Today, we celebrate Dr Bill Lumsden MBE, a true pioneer in the whisky industry, as he marks his 30th anniversary with The Glenmorangie Company. Since joining us in 1995, Bill has been the creative vision behind Glenmorangie and Ardbeg. As our Director of Whisky Creation, he has created new whisky expressions enjoyed and revered worldwide. His approach to whisky making is encapsulated by his favourite phrase, "What if?". This spirit of curiosity and innovation has driven him to continually push the boundaries, transforming imaginative ideas into exceptional whisky moments. Bill’s relentless passion has earned him numerous accolades, including the 'Outstanding Achievement in Scotch Whisky' award in 2021 and the title of Master Distiller/Blender of the Year at Whisky Magazine’s Icons of Whisky 2016 awards. Recently, he won the International Whisky Competition’s award for Master Distiller of the Year for the fifth time. Bill has created a legion of fans across the globe and is truly a living legend in the world of whisky. We are immensely proud of his contributions to the whisky industry and are honoured to have him as part of our team. With over 200,000 members, the Committee has been the lifeblood of our distillery, passionately debating and cherishing the whisky they revere as The Ultimate Islay Single Malt. Their unwavering dedication has helped preserve the spirit of Ardbeg, ensure our doors remain open and our legacy continues.
