👀 UTCs help open students' eyes to the world of work, with 84% of UTC Year 11s saying that they felt they had opportunities and experiences not available at their previous school. UTCs run a wide range of employer-led projects to help students understand the career pathways that are open to them. Projects such as: 🚑 The UTC Health Tech Challenge with University of Lincoln and healthcare providers, where students develop products to make life better for patients.  🎭 Designing a stage for National Theatre production of The Grapes of Wrath, where students have to reimagine the staging in an imaginative way. 🧠 Working with Accenture to create innovative solutions with artificial intelligence to help the public health sector operate more efficiently. Project-based learning is at the heart of the UTC programme's high-quality, employer-led technical education provision, and is one of the key reasons students chose to study at a UTC. #thinkUTC

Great to join Kate Ambrosi ,Dr. Rona Mackenzie Matt Messias Stu Hamer, former principal John Morrison, Award winners, families and friends of Lincoln UTC, for what was a wonderful evening of celebration. It’s been my greatest pleasure to have supported the UTC since inception and look forward to seeing it go from strength to strength over the next 10 years.

🏆 Our Chief Executive Kate Ambrosi yesterday presented awards at the Lincoln UTC 10th anniversary awards evening and also gave a presentation on the Baker Dearing Educational Trust and our plans for the future. 🎤 It was a tremendous evening, packed with guest speeches from industry representatives, alumni, and educators. Awards were presented to students of the year, subject specialisms, and for student traits such as motivation and independence. 🙏 Thanks to the UTC for inviting Kate to speak and present awards, and thanks to all the speakers. 🆕️ Ofsted has published a new report on careers guidance that reveals college leaders have found more students than ever are enrolling “without any idea” of courses or careers they wanted to pursue. 👟 The Baker Award for Technical Education helps put students on the fast track to apprenticeships and careers by recognising employer engagement, work experience and key technical skills and competencies. The Baker Award can help guide students' learning. A provider's involvement also shows to the young person that the school or college can provide a pathway to a positive destination. 🤝 Baker Dearing today joined UTC South Durham alumni Rylie Sweeney at the Children's Commissioner for England's Festival of Childhood in London today. 🎤 Speaking at the event was Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson MP, who said: "I want all children to have the opportunity to succeed. So we are on a mission as a government – to break down the barriers to opportunity for every child. And I mean it when I say that it has to be every child. Because all children deserve the chance to get on and succeed." ⭐ Rylie's journey encapsulates the Secretary of State's vision. She spent time in the isolation block at a previous school and was told she would never achieve anything. Yet at the UTC, she says she "thrived in the simulated workplace environment". Rylie now works with the commissioner and as a member of The Careers & Enterprise Company's Youth Advisory Group. Phillipson even mentioned Rylie in her speech, saying she was "great to meet you at the Women In Westminster event last year." 👉 Thousands of young people across the country are benefitting from the simulated work environment of a UTC and have an array of opportunities to progress onto apprenticeships, higher technical education, and careers. Baker Dearing is working to support and protect this model so more young people like Rylie can benefit. #thinkUTC

🚗 Today, Juliette from SGS Berkeley Green UTC has been named as the winner of the UTC Concept Car Competition for her striking design entitled VTOL Drone. 🖥️ What stood out for judges was the design communication within the concept. One of the competition judges Paul Jones, Chief Executive of the Northern Automotive Alliance, said: "The level of detail and clarity of the communication on this entry were first class. Juliette also thought about the wider ecosystem including carbon reduction through vertical take off and landing, not needing to build runways, etc. She took a holistic view of the whole design." In second place was Henrique from Liverpool Life Sciences UTC who designed the Cronos Explorer, designed to drive on another planet. In third place was Albert from Berkeley Green UTC who designed Legasus, a walking vehicle. 🙏 Thanks to all UTCs that entered, judges Georgina Phillips CDLP from Williams Racing, Paul Jones from Northern Automotive Alliance, Nathan Rogers from Autodesk, Peter Simpson from UCL and especially to the CADCAM Educators Hub for organising this competition. #thinkUTC
