The Association of Genetic Nurses and Counsellors (AGNC) reposted this
Earlier this week, I had the privilege of presenting my Master’s dissertation research project at the The Association of Genetic Nurses and Counsellors (AGNC) Conference 2025 in Birmingham. I was also incredibly honoured to receive the Lauren Kerzin-Storrar Memorial Student Prize for this project. Lauren’s legacy, her passion for people, progress, and training of the next generation, continues to inspire those of us at the beginning of our careers, making this recognition even more meaningful. Standing up to share my work with such a thoughtful and experienced community was undeniably nerve-wracking, but also extremely rewarding, especially after hearing that it resonated with so many. To be told that my talk inspired trainees or sparked reflection among genetic counsellors is definitely more than I ever hoped for! In addition to this, being part of the organising committee gave me a further, unique behind-the-scenes view of what it takes to bring a national event like this to life, while allowing me to connect with so many brilliant minds along the way. This experience certainly deepened my appreciation for this dynamic field and the passionate community that drives it forward. I’m excited for the next chapter and the opportunities ahead!
