🎙️ Alexandre Silveira de Almeida, Managing Partner at Technopolis Group Portugal 🇵🇹, spoke on the "Governance of New Geographies" of the ESPON Programme, where he shared profound insights about the transformative role of the #AtlanticMRS project in the Atlantic regions. In his speech, Alexandre focused on the integration of the green and blue dimensions, essential for sustainable development: 🟢 The green dimension covers renewable energy, biodiversity, agroecological transitions, and circular economy initiatives. 🔵 The blue dimension relates to maritime industries, ports, oceanic innovation, and transatlantic connectivity. This duality positions the AtlanticMRS as a geopolitical and geoeconomic interface for Europe, projecting influence across the Atlantic and aligning with the main policy agendas of the #EU. 📈 Alexandre emphasised the importance of "#missions" as challenges that mobilise stakeholders and unite them around common goals and development trajectories. He also highlighted the need for flexible polycentric governance, combining multilevel and horizontal approaches, making the benefits visible and clear to each partner and recognising differences in interests, which facilitates the mobilisation of different actors with more direct connections. 🔍 The session, moderated by Erik Gløersen, also featured contributions from Giancarlo Cotella (Politecnico di Torino), Tobias Chilla (FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg), and Katarzyna Wojnar (University of Warsaw), who enriched the discussion with their perspectives. 🎥 Watch the full debate and discover more about the innovative and sustainable approaches being implemented in the Atlantic MRS project: https://lnkd.in/ddjwqnJb

🏙 50 EU cities and communities have already embarked on a transformative journey to design a comprehensive digitalisation roadmap for the next five years! This strategy paves the way for establishing Local Data Platforms or Local Digital Twins. Read about the achievements of Western Macedonia and how the Online Procurement Helpdesk for Smart Communities has been a key player in their success: 📍 "We see innovation occur when local communities face both challenges and inspirational opportunities. Such an opportunity was the technical support provided by the Local Digital Twins initiative. During the preparation phase, the experts from the Online Helpdesk Service provided the local team with all necessary information, including webinars and assessment tools, for the mapping and scanning of the Region’s digital landscape. After the analysis and digital maturity assessment, they delivered a well defined roadmap for the deployment of a timely Regional Digital Strategy for 2030." 📢 We're calling on more cities and communities to join this movement! We’re delighted to share that Technopolis Group Portugal has contributed to updating the study on the Cross-Border Smart Specialisation Strategy (#RIS3T) for the Galicia – North Portugal Euroregion covering 2021-2027. This study has been completed by our Portuguese colleagues in collaboration with the Northern Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR NORTE, I.P.), the Galician Innovation Agency (Axencia Galega de Innovación), and the Galicia-North Portugal European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (GNP, EGTC). ✅ It revises the diagnosis of the regional innovation system, defines a shared vision, pinpoints priority areas for cooperation, and designs a new governance and monitoring model for the RIS3T. 📝 The outcome was achieved through a consultation process involving around 200 participants across two entrepreneurial discovery workshops and approximately 120 surveys. This strategic update is set to have a major impact on the Euroregion’s path toward greater integration and innovation, underscoring a shared commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth! The report is available in Portuguese 🇵🇹 on our website! Read it here: https://lnkd.in/ePEvWuhG Photo credits: CCDR NORTE, I.P.
