Update: Sunderland Software City and Digital Catapult North East & Tees Valley As of 1st April 2025, Sunderland Software City (SSC) will no longer lead Digital Catapult efforts in the region.   SSC has led the Digital Catapult North East & Tees Valley initiative since it began in 2014, providing an array of services to support and grow the region’s innovation ecosystem.   We are incredibly proud of our work to deepen relationships and enhance flagship investments on the ground for over a decade, under the Catapult banner, as part of our wider regional support. Our team feels privileged to have pioneered a thriving digital supply and demand ecosystem. Some achievements include: - Embedding advanced digital-technology capabilities in over 1000 North East SMEs, while simultaneously supporting over 100 startups to grow - Creating and driving impactful programmes such as Digital Pathfinders, Immex City, Tech Seeds and 5G Immersive Lab - Delivering unique activity with the likes of Nissan, Vodafone, P&G, Dyer Engineering, AkzoNobel, MET Office and more - Working closely with many of the region’s most innovative startups and SMEs such as Wordnerds, Nebula Labs, Seer, Armatus Oceanic, Animmersion UK Ltd and INFINITY27 to name a few - Creating trusted partnerships across a broad range of stakeholders to drive both economic and social impact, rooted in deep place-based understanding.   SSC will continue its mission of growing the region’s tech sector, with innovation services remaining a key component of our support offering. The Digital Catapult team will now assume day to day operations of the PROTO Immersive Lab and Advanced Media Production (AMP) studio.

All Access Pass Winner🏆🎉 Our All Access Pass initiative challenged our cohort of organisations across the region to generate innovative ideas for making the North East tourism sector more accessible and inclusive. Throughout the course of the programme, they have been busy improving their ideas to build their product. They received specialist design support from Seated Consulting and Digital Poverty Allice, with technical expertise provided by Vodafone and Accelleran.💡 Last week was the final session at the 5G Immersive Lab, where our cohort pitched their ideas to a panel of judges. After everyone had pitched, the winner was decided. Congratulations to Andrew Blance, founder of Pasimo. Andrew added💬 "Winning the pitch competition will have a huge impact, it’s a huge amount of money for a small startup, and it will enable us to begin development." Jenna and Liza delivered an amazing and interactive session on 5G as well as the various applications of VR tech. From seeing a dinosaur face to face or paddling in a canoe!
