Check out our paper: Preparation of oxygen-sensitive proteins for high-resolution cryoEM structure determination using blot-free vitrification published today in Nature Communication! https://lnkd.in/gh5u_CJu Under the guidance of Mark Herzik, we (Brian Cook, Kelly McGuire, and I) teamed up to develop a grid vitrification workflow that would allow us to structurally characterize oxygen-sensitive proteins using cryoEM! We optimized our methodology using SPT Labtech chameleon and hemoglobin as our test protein! With this method, we were able to get high-resolution structures of the catalytic subunit of Mo-nitrogenase, MoFeP, without oxidation/O₂ damage! Thanks to Marc Morizono for gorgeous Fig 1.A and Yizhou Li for all of the help along the way!!
