Transforming your firm's social media to become a source of real business wins | Founder of Social-Hire.com, a B2B social selling agency | Social media marketing is like a Rubik's Cube. I'll help your business solve it!

👉 Here's 60 seconds you can spend using A.I. today that'll give you a reality check about how focused your network-building efforts are here on LinkedIn. I used the following prompt: "Please can you provide a summary of the types of people I'm connecting to on LinkedIn, inferring as much as you can about level of seniority, professional focus and type of company. Here's a list of my most recent connections to analyse:" [followed by a copy and paste of my 100 most recent connections, taken from the "Connections" page on LinkedIn] I got back a detailed assessment of the types of people I'm connecting to, rounded out with a summary (see below). Keep in mind that I work with Founders and Partners of consulting firms, recruitment businesses and SaaS / technology businesses. You can see there's a close alignment to the network I've been building here. ****** Key Insights for Tony Restell: Seniority: Your network leans heavily towards senior professionals, founders, and thought leaders. Professional Focus: A strong emphasis on leadership, marketing, recruitment, and innovation. Company Types: A mix of startups, consulting firms, and recruitment agencies. ****** P.S. if you have a try at this yourself, let me know what you find!

Want to grow quality followers on LinkedIn? One of our Q&A sessions tackled exactly how to do this (recording link below). The key ideas were: 1️⃣ Engage With Others First. Before you focus on creating your own posts, spend time commenting on posts from others in your industry. Find thought leaders with engaged audiences, and contribute thoughtful, knowledgeable comments. This exposes you to their network, many of whom will never have heard of you but could become your followers. 2️⃣ Create Conversational Content. Once you start posting, focus on sparking conversations. Posts that invite comments don’t just boost visibility via the algorithm, they also get you talking to people. The more you interact, the more connections you’ll build. 3️⃣ Optimise Your Profile. A compelling headline and well-crafted profile make all the difference when someone stumbles across your comment or post. Use your headline to showcase your expertise and make visitors curious to hit the follow button. 4️⃣ Show Genuine Interest. Follower growth is a marathon, not a sprint. If you’re sending connection requests, make them personal. Reference something specific about their profile or work. Show genuine interest - quality beats quantity every time. 5️⃣ Patience Pays Off. Remember, growth takes time. For the first several months of being more active on LinkedIn, it might feel like shouting into the void. But the key is consistency and showing up daily. Once your momentum picks up, growth will come faster. Does this align with what you've been doing on LinkedIn? Any other suggestions you'd add to this list? I'd love to read your thoughts below 👇 P.S. if you'd like to catch up on the Q&A video, you'll find the short snippet here: https://lnkd.in/e7x_WtbY

If you’re trying to increase the reach of your LinkedIn posts, stop chasing the algorithm and start creating value. Here’s the reality ⬇️ There are multiple algorithms and they are constantly changing. What worked yesterday won't necessarily work tomorrow. Instead of getting caught up in the whack-a-mole game of beating the algorithm, focus on the two things the algorithm never punishes... ... Valuable content and genuine engagement. Here are some strategies to maximise your LinkedIn post reach and maintain relevance with your audience: 1️⃣ Deliver Value. Sharing random quotes or viral content might get views, but creating posts that actually address your audience’s biggest challenges will build trust and make you an authority in your niche. Solve problems, offer insights, and be the go-to source in whatever area you serve. 2️⃣ Engage with Your Audience. Success is not just about being seen, it’s about creating conversations. When people comment, engage with them. Respond thoughtfully and watch conversations take on a life of their own. That’s how you build lasting connections. 3️⃣ Use Polls Wisely. Polls are a powerful tool for reach because they’re quick and interactive. But don’t fall into the trap of creating irrelevant polls just for clicks. A poll about “cakes” (unless you’re a baker!) won’t deliver meaningful eyeballs. Instead, craft polls that align with your brand and your audience’s professional interests. 4️⃣ Stay On-Brand. Every post shapes your personal brand. Ask yourself, “Does this content align with what I stand for?” Virality isn’t worth sacrificing your reputation for. A post that’s off-topic or polarising can quickly drain your time and energy interacting with people who have no relevance to your business. Remember, it’s better to have smaller reach with the right audience, than massive reach with little relevance. Build trust, share value, and make every post count in building your professional credibility. For more on this, check the following short video snippet: https://lnkd.in/eBKqJYdY ❓ What's your approach to building meaningful reach on LinkedIn? Similar to the above, or somehow different?

Consulting Partners are desperate to escape the feast and famine cycle. Yet most aren't leveraging the most powerful tool to eradicate it. They've barely scratched the surface in figuring out how LinkedIn can address the issue. My first conversations with consulting Partners invariably go like this. They all describe the same pattern, their team being flat out on project work. Long weeks, all hands on deck, with no spare time to do much BD activity. Then, when a big piece of work ends, no pipeline... not enough prospects. Just the familiar anxiety of wondering where the next client win will come from. But here's what's crazy about that situation: When I ask about their LinkedIn strategy, I get blank looks. "We post when we remember to, when we're not so busy," they shrug. This is the pattern I see nearly every time I speak with a consulting firm: They'll invest heavily in business development initiatives, sales training, and networking events. But they completely neglect the one platform where their perfect clients can be easily identified and won over. LinkedIn. The feast and famine cycle isn't inevitable. It's a symptom of inconsistent business development efforts, that yo-yo depending on how busy the business is. You need to be getting in front of your potential clients consistently - not just when you're hungry for work. ➡️ Regardless of how busy you are, your network needs to be strategically grown ➡️ When you're busy delivering, your ideal clients still need to see your insights ➡️ When they have a problem, you need to already be top of mind ➡️ As projects come to a natural end, you've got to already be well-placed to line up lots of new meetings LinkedIn enables you to do all this. You just need the right support and direction to make it happen.

Twitter used to be a goldmine for new business. Now it's a ghost town, at least in our markets. Is anyone still winning clients there? Thinking back to our early days at Social Hire, Twitter was our number one source of new business. Nothing else came close. We connected with prospects, built relationships, and scheduled lots of calls and booked in lots of webinar attendees - all through those 140-character conversations. But that was then. The platform has changed dramatically. The algorithm shift and switch to Premium. The rebrand to X. The seeming exodus of certain profiles of user. I'm genuinely curious: is anyone finding it's still working for them in 2025? Is there an untapped opportunity on Twitter/X now that the competition has thinned out? Or has the platform truly lost its B2B magic? What's your experience?
