On 8 April 2025 the UK Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) published proposals for a new Matching Adjustment Investment Accelerator (MAIA). 📄 The PRA stated that it expects the reform to “promote growth in the UK insurance sector and broader economy”, with the new framework intended to facilitate more rapid investment by #Insurers in certain assets. In this briefing, Jonathan Marks, Nick Pacheco and Beth Dobson (Jolley) provide an overview of the proposals and discuss the rationale for the reform. They also cover the UK Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) next steps in its reviews of the pure protection insurance market and its retail conduct rules. Celebrating International Women’s Day at Slaughter and May 🌷 As March draws to a close, we reflect on some of the activities that took place at the firm to celebrate #IWD25. • We hosted an inspiring firmwide panel featuring award-winning chef Sally Abe, in conversation with Jane Edwarde. The discussion highlighted Sally’s rise in the male-dominated fine-dining world and her work to improve equality in the UK restaurant industry. • We held an online “Women in Commercial Law” panel event for students and graduates to offer insights into the firm, different careers and to learn more about the initiatives of our Gender Equality Network (GEN). • GEN partnered with Vinomenal for a wine tasting experience featuring alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Vinomenal has one key goal: to empower women with knowledge of wine. • We attended a private viewing of the Barbican’s Citra Sasmita exhibition which was hosted by the Barbican’s exhibition curator and a member of their women’s network. #GenderEquality #InternationalWomensDay
