"Net-zero targets are only as credible as the plan to deliver them." To support our Amsterdam roundtable this week, we’re sharing a new two-part insight written by Simply Sustainable Netherlands Country Manager, Sytze Dijkstra, exploring what credible transition planning really means in practice. It's no secret that AI is changing how businesses work, from driving innovation and improving efficiency to opening up new opportunities. But behind the scenes, there’s a growing environmental and social cost. Data centres use vast amounts of water to stay cool. Plus, the minerals needed to power AI hardware often come from supply chains linked to environmental damage and human rights concerns. In part 2 of our five-part AI insight series, Consultant Harry Freeman explores how businesses can take practical, meaningful steps to align AI with their sustainability goals. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eZ4A4qPt If your organisation is exploring how to align AI with sustainability goals, we’d love to talk. As we traverse the ever-evolving digital environment, its essential to consider the implications on our natural environment. In this five-part series, Simply Sustainable consultant Harry Freeman will be exploring how businesses can make the most of AI without losing sight of their environmental goals. Part one is now live! It looks at how AI can help companies increase efficiency and make better decisions – but also how its growing energy demands could be at odds with net-zero commitments. Harry will break down where the emissions come from, how to measure them, and what businesses can do to keep their AI use aligned with their sustainability strategy. Thank you to everyone who joined us at Charlotte Street Hotel last night for an evening of intimate conversation, drinks, and thought-provoking discussions. A huge thank you to our fantastic panel who brought together diverse perspectives from across a range of sectors. Our panel host Joaska Mischke was joined by Louise Harry (Siemens), Will Silverwood (Whitbread PLC), and Holly M. (Annington), who all shared their views on how to engage champions within the business to align sustainability goals, they explored politics vs policies, and discussed the cost of embedding sustainability vs the risks. The message is clear: sustainability must remain business as usual, and now is the time to embed it into the entire business' strategy. Right now, organisations are needing to ask themselves, are they willing to pay the price for not investing in sustainability today in order to protect their tomorrow? Thank you all again to those who attended! We look forward to our next event in the near future!

In 2024, we started our work with Mitchells & Butlers PLC one of the largest operators of restaurants, pubs and bars in the UK, to enhance its CDP disclosures. Through our structured, data-driven approach, we supported the business in improving its CDP Climate Change score from a D to a B, while also helping them achieve a C in both Forests and Water Security. “Working with the Simply Sustainable team to enhance our CDP disclosure was a really positive experience. The team were professional and diligent, identifying clear areas to improve our score as well as adding value to our approach to sustainability.” – Amy de Marsac, Director of Investor Relations and Sustainability, Mitchells & Butlers plc A huge well done to the team at Mitchells & Butlers PLC– a great example of what can be achieved through purposeful action. 🌍✨ Exciting News! 🎥 I had the incredible opportunity to sit down with Richard DeNetto, CEO of Change the Race Ratio, to discuss the pressing issues surrounding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in the UK business landscape. As we navigate the cold winds of change from the USA, it's clear that in many UK organisations there is no change to their commitment and action to inclusivity. #Diversity #Inclusion #ChangeTheRaceRatio #Leadership #DEI #BusinessTransformation #UKBusiness #SocialImpact Richard DeNetto

On 26th March, we hosted our sustainability leaders roundtable 'Embedding sustainability: Transition planning for long-term value creation' in Amsterdam. The energetic discussion and strong engagement from participants showed just how timely and important transition planning is for businesses. Sytze Dijkstra, our Netherlands Country Manager, has shared his thoughts on the topic as he reflects on the challenges explored by attendees at the event at the link below. 'To be effective, a climate transition plan needs credibility, an honest approach to uncertainty, and a clear understanding of the external dependencies that shape progress.' Sytze Dijkstra The shift from ambition to action is happening, and it’s encouraging to see more companies embedding transition planning into strategy and turning mutual dependencies into a shared path forward.
