⭐#SercoStories 🙌 ♻️ Celebrating long-service! Joanne de Roeck CMgr MCMI: 25 years in UK Environmental Services. Jo’s journey began in 2000 as a temporary administrator. Since then, Jo has worked in a number of operational roles as a Waste Supervisor and Street Cleaning Supervisor, before making a complete career change by moving into Serco's data team in 2021. In 2020, despite the challenges of the pandemic, Jo earned a 2:1 in Business Management and became a Chartered Manager in 2023. Throughout her career, Jo has benefitted from mentorship, particularly from strong female role models who empowered her to reach her full potential. She now mentors others, paying back the support she's received. Today Jo is Data and Reporting Lead in Serco's UK Environmental Services Team. With 25 years' experience across both operations and data, Jo is a true example of dedication, adaptability, and unwavering commitment. We've joined forces with Forests With Impact, an award-winning social enterprise, as its newest national partner as part of our rehabilitation and sustainability strategy at HMP Fosse Way. At its core, Forests With Impact establishes commercial tree nurseries within prisons, where prisoners cultivate and nurture saplings, gaining real-world skills that improve their chances of employment upon release. Through the combination of our deep expertise in the justice sector and their ground-breaking approach to rehabilitation, we're creating employment pathways for prisoners while tackling climate change. By joining forces, we are strengthening our shared commitment to breaking the cycle of reoffending and creating opportunities for rehabilitation. One week ago today we published both our Annual Report and Accounts and our standalone ESG Impact Report. Today we’re pleased to focus on our ESG Impact story, as we look to further embed ESG into the heart of our organisation throughout 2025. Our Group purpose and ESG strategy are inextricably linked, aiming to impact a better future for People, Place and Planet, underpinned by Governance – our Responsible Business foundations. In 2024, Serco made significant progress on this strategy. We: • Had our Science-Based targets validated by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) – demonstrating our commitment to reducing GHG emissions in line with limiting global warming to 1.5°C. • Launched a new Community Investment ambition to give £7m to brilliant causes by YE 2026, enhancing our positive social impact. • Reduced the number of Lost Time Incidents (LTIs) linked to Health and Safety, by 22% - highlighting our dedication to embedding a Zero Harm culture and keeping colleagues safe.
