  • We’ve been shortlisted for the Constructing Excellence SECBE Awards 2025 🏆   🥇 First up: Gradel Quadrangles at New College, Oxford – nominated for Building Project of the Year Over £20m. Famous for its historic 14th-century quad, New College is once again setting a new benchmark in education design. David Kohn Architects have reimagined the traditional quad as a vibrant, open and sustainable 21st-century learning community.    Ridge provided Project Management and Quality Monitoring services for this ambitious scheme, which delivers:  🛏️ 95 student bedrooms and kitchens  🎨 Student common room, an art gallery and an auditorium for public performances   🍽️ New facilities for the adjacent New College School including assembly hall, kitchen, dining hall and classrooms  🏙️ A striking new tower and gatehouse acting as urban markers in Oxford’s skyline      This transformative project not only meets high sustainability targets - it also gained the Institution of Civil Engineers Carbon Champion status.      🥇 Our second nomination is in the Retrofit category - recognising a bespoke app developed by our Digital Engineering team for SNG (Sovereign Network Group).    Built using AirTable, the app offers a practical, cost-effective alternative to traditional software. The app acts as a centralised property database, with real-time reporting dashboards and automations that reduce admin and free up time for high-value work. It’s helped streamline communication, improve client visibility, and support more efficient delivery across the board.    It’s also great to see other projects we’ve supported shortlisted, including the Oxford University Football Stadium and Nebula at Milton Park.    The SECBE Awards recognise and celebrate the very best companies, collaborations and projects from across the London and South East region. Good luck to all finalists, and we’re looking forward to the award ceremony in June.    Mike Ford | Brent Rees | Tim Leigh | Jemma Crowther | James Bingham | Nuala Darnell | Adam Evershed | Kate Carter-Brown | Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)

  • Sustainability isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you think of defence. But maybe it should be. At Ridge, we’ve spent more than a decade working with the Ministry of Defence on some of its most complex, secure and sustainability-driven projects. And through that work, we’ve learned a lot – about flexibility, collaboration, and how bold targets can be achieved when everyone pulls in the same direction. In this new article, Abby Foster (née Bartlett) Foster, Sustainability Partner at Ridge, shares five key lessons we’ve learned from delivering sustainable defence projects – from the power of post-occupancy evaluation to why DREAM (the MOD’s equivalent to BREEAM) is quietly driving ambitious change across the estate. Read the full article here 📘 https://lnkd.in/eGSrU4X4 Whether you work in defence or another sector entirely, these lessons are widely applicable – and a reminder that great sustainability work doesn’t always make headlines, but it’s happening in some unexpected places. #Sustainability #Defence #ESG #NetZero #DREAM #BuiltEnvironment #PublicSector  #Multidisciplinary #MOD

  • We have been appointed to support the Rugby Football Union (RFU) on their new Twickenham Stadium Masterplan 🏉 We are providing Information Management services as part of the team supporting the RFU for RIBA Stage 2 on their Stadium Masterplan Project. Allianz Stadium, Twickenham has been the home of England Rugby for over 100 years. In this time, the game has become an essential part of the fabric of the country and visiting Allianz Stadium is a highlight of many people’s year.   As the governing body for rugby union in England, the RFU is dedicated to enriching lives by introducing more people to rugby union and developing the sport for future generations. All profit generated is reinvested into the game to support its growth at all levels, through community programmes and investment into player development, professional clubs, community clubs, and the England national teams.   Like all businesses, they face financial pressures from economic challenges, rising costs, and the lasting impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of these challenges lie in how they maximise and invest in their biggest asset, Allianz Stadium, which generates around 85% of their revenues. The Stadium Masterplan Project has been established to support the RFU to develop a vision and multi-year plan for the future that looks at how the stadium can maintain its reputation as a world-class entertainment venue for sports and concerts, and in turn generate more income, all while becoming an asset that local communities can be proud of 🏟️     To find out more about our Digital Engineering team visit https://lnkd.in/eg5ph82K. • How ready are you for the AI era? At this year’s BIM (Building Information Modelling) Summit in London, Amy Beckenham, Digital Engineering pro at Ridge, will be taking the stage to challenge perceptions about AI readiness in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry. In her talk, “Revit is a database: Unlocking your hidden data literacy for the AI era”, Amy will reveal how Revit users have been database administrators all along - whether they realise it or not. By reframing BIM skills through a database lens, she’ll show how AEC professionals can harness their existing expertise to navigate the next wave of digital transformation. Amy will also be joining the panel discussion: “How will the next era of digital disruption transform BIM?” - tackling the implications of AI, evolving workflows, and the future of digital delivery in our industry. 📅 9 April 2025  📍 The BIM Summit, Hilton London Tower Bridge  🌎 https://lnkd.in/eMcBPBed Symetri Europe | Brent Rees #TheBIMSummitbySymetri #BIM #AI #DigitalEra #Revit
