It has come to our attention that some incorrect information about the future of our Visitor Management Service has appeared on social media. We are happy to clarify that visitor management services will continue. This valuable service is being consolidated into a wider Council service, which means we will no longer rely on seasonal staff but will have a team of fully trained officers to continue rural patrols and engage with communities, visitors and campers, providing advice and assistance. We will have the intelligence to target hotspot areas and the resources to address any issues, working in partnership with Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. We are also looking at options to continue the provision of portable toilets at visitor hotspots. Our staff will continue to work with communities to manage the impact of visitors and provide advice and support to people who come to our beautiful area.

About us
We provide a huge range of services that impact on every aspect of people's lives, throughout their lives. Three community groups have been donated minibuses from Perth and Kinross after the vehicles reached the end of their useful life with the local authority. We have a new minibus disposal policy that offers community groups and sports clubs the opportunity to receive one of Perth and Kinross Council's 17 minibuses at the end of their operational service period with the Council. All the vehicles come with a minimum six-month MOT certificate and inspection report on its condition. The three groups who received minibuses on Thursday were the Royal Voluntary Service, Perthshire Welfare Society and Mantalk. Perth and Kinross Council’s work with Scottish charity Families Outside to raise awareness among professionals about the impact of the justice journey (parental or sibling contact with the justice system) on children and young people, is being highlighted as an example of good practice by the Improvement Service around the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in Scotland. Advancing Children's Rights in the Justice System in Perth and Kinross outlines how the partnership, enabled through funding from the Scottish Government’s UNCRC Innovation Fund, led to over 400 members of staff from Perth and Kinross Council, Police Scotland, NHS Tayside, the local third sector and other organisations receiving training during 2024 on the Prison Reform Trust’s Child Impact Assessment toolkit, a resource co-created with children and young people. Locally, young people attending Perth Academy who have been impacted in this way also created child-friendly resources designed to help their peers understand their rights when interacting with the justice system.
