💬 It’s a conversation echoing through design circles more than ever before. With the world changing rapidly—faster production, shifting aesthetics, and new expectations around sustainability and functionality—the design world is questioning what it means to be at the top. As younger designers break through with bold ideas and fearless perspectives, many are wondering: is experience still the ultimate advantage, or has the playing field quietly changed? Icons have long defined the foundations of furniture design. Their work speaks across generations—timeless, revered, and rooted in a deep understanding of material, proportion, and philosophy. They’ve shaped trends, pioneered movements, and built legacies that are etched into the DNA of the industry. To compete with that isn’t just about creating something beautiful—it’s about shifting culture. And yet, emerging designers are doing just that. With limited resources but limitless imagination, they arrive with fresh eyes, questioning everything. They blend disciplines, borrow from art, tech, and nature, and often care less about fitting in and more about standing out. They may not have the name yet—but they have the moment. Their designs challenge, provoke, and sometimes—just sometimes—outshine. Perhaps it’s not about replacing the icons, but rethinking what an icon even is. Could it be someone who’s known by everyone, or someone who sees what no one else has? As old and new converge, we’re left with a beautiful tension: tradition and disruption in constant conversation. 🤨 So, we ask you—who defines the future of design? The legends who built the path, or the bold ones daring to redraw it? ••• #PattrnWorkspace #OfficeDesign #CommercialOffice #FurnitureDesign #ModernFurniture #InteriorDesign #WorkplaceDesign #EmergingDesigners #Debate

🪵 With its rich wood grain and sculptural form, the Bufala Chair by NORR11 embodies the art of fine craftsmanship, where nature’s raw beauty is shaped by careful, deliberate design. Its back, formed from 36 layers of oak veneer pressed into a mould, curves with the grace of the Bufala horn, offering not just support but a striking visual signature. Each chair bears the rich texture of solid wood, with its grain telling a story of nature and artistry intertwined. Available with or without upholstery, it allows for the raw beauty of the wood to shine through, or for a softened touch to complement its sculptural form. The replaceable upholstery plates add a layer of practicality, allowing the chair to evolve with time while preserving its exceptional design. More than a seat, the Bufala is a testament to the art of furniture making, where tradition and innovation harmonise in a piece that is both functional and deeply beautiful. ••• #PattrnWorkspace #OfficeDesign #CommercialOffice #FurnitureDesign #ModernFurniture #InteriorDesign #WorkplaceDesign #Norr11

With new designers comes a wave of original thinking—some take cues from their favourite furniture legends, while others toss the rulebook entirely and bring something no one’s seen before. This fresh generation is unafraid to experiment, to reimagine what furniture can be, and to ask: why not make it simpler, smarter, or just more fun? Their ideas often blur the line between design and art, while still keeping practicality in mind. Whether it’s for a creative studio, a sleek office space, or an experimental showroom, their pieces are making statements—and solving problems. 💡 A perfect example? Tokyo-based designer Sera Yanagisawa, whose Kusabi stool turned heads at Salone Satellite. Crafted from just three wedge-shaped pieces of wood, it looks beautifully sculptural—but its real genius lies in the construction. With one simple pin, the three pieces tighten together to form a sturdy, stylish stool. That’s it. No tools, no hardware clutter. It ships flat-pack, but assembles in seconds, making it ideal for modern spaces that value both flexibility and aesthetic. It’s deceptively simple, effortlessly clever, and exactly the kind of fresh thinking that makes emerging designers impossible to ignore.☝️ ••• #PattrnWorkspace #OfficeDesign #CommercialOffice #FurnitureDesign #ModernFurniture #InteriorDesign #WorkplaceDesign #EmergingDesigners #SeraYanagisawa #Innovation

Imagine this: you're on a call that matters—feedback, strategy, maybe something personal—and every sentence has to compete with keyboard clatter, coffee orders, and HR’s third retelling of their weekend hike. You lower your voice, twist in your seat, scan the room for an escape that doesn’t exist. ❌ There’s nowhere to go. ✅ But you wish there was. In a space built for collaboration, solitude has become scarce. That’s where a single phone booth can shift the entire atmosphere. Not ten—you don’t need a fleet. Just one small haven of quiet. A door to close. A pause from the noise. A place where thoughts land clearly, and words don’t need to whisper. In the hum of the modern office, that kind of stillness isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. 💡 Think about it: this is where the magic (or at least the frantic typing) happens. It’s more than just a flat surface—it’s where you craft presentations, scribble your genius ideas, and maybe even have an emotional breakdown over a coffee spill. Whether you're drafting your next big project or just desperately trying to avoid the to-do list, the desk is where it all goes down. So, don’t skimp on it; after all, this is where you’re shaping your future... or at least trying to make it through the week. ✨ Make yours worth it.✨ ••• #PattrnWorkspace #OfficeDesign #CommercialOffice #FurnitureDesign #ModernFurniture #InteriorDesign #WorkplaceDesign

🛋️ A sofa without cushions is like a bed without pillows—you could survive, but would you really want to? That extra layer of comfort, the perfect balance between support and indulgence, is what turns a seat into a sanctuary. This cushion collection by Arper doesn’t just exist to fill a space; it adds depth, texture, and a quiet touch of luxury. The diamond-patterned design is subtle yet striking, a rhythm of soft geometry that catches the eye without demanding attention. Upholstered in a blend of down and fibre, it’s not just about aesthetics—it’s about sinking in, exhaling, and knowing that even the smallest details can make all the difference. ••• #PattrnWorkspace #OfficeDesign #CommercialOffice #FurnitureDesign #ModernFurniture #InteriorDesign #WorkplaceDesign #Arper #Textile

🧵 The world of textiles has always evolved in pursuit of beauty, ethics, and innovation. Once, animal fur was the pinnacle of luxury—coveted yet controversial. Then came faux fur, an ethical alternative made from petroleum-based acrylic, polyester, and nylon, offering aesthetics without the cruelty. But true progress doesn’t settle. Now, BioFluff takes the next leap: the world’s first 100% plant-based alternative to fur, shearling, and plush—luxury that is as indulgent as it is responsible. Just as leather defined high-end office furniture, BioFluff has the potential to reshape luxury interiors. Imagine executive seating lined with plush plant-based shearling, statement lounge pieces wrapped in bio-based fur, or upholstery that redefines texture and warmth—all without a trace of petroleum or animal harm. ☝️ This is more than sustainability; it’s innovation elevating tradition. The future of luxury isn’t synthetic—it’s alive. ••• #PattrnWorkspace #OfficeDesign #CommercialOffice #FurnitureDesign #ModernFurniture #InteriorDesign #WorkplaceDesign #Sustainability #BioFluff #EcoFriendlyDesign

In a world obsessed with replacing the old with the new, London’s Elizabeth Line has embraced a smarter, more sustainable approach—one that holds a game-changing lesson for office furniture design!☝️ Rather than tearing out and replacing pristine platform benches tarnished by "ghost marks"—faint stains left by daily commuters—Transport for London (TfL) found an ingenious solution. After a 2024 trial, they discovered that applying silhouette-shaped posters not only concealed these stains but also prevented future buildup. A simple, visually striking fix that honoured the integrity of the original design. This approach embodies the saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Instead of scrapping functional, well-made furniture pieces, TfL chose to preserve and enhance what was already there. The lesson? Thoughtful adaptation is more sustainable than unnecessary replacement. Now, imagine this mindset applied to office furniture. Instead of discarding desks, chairs, and communal workspaces at the first sign of wear, businesses could implement creative coverings, modular upgrades, or protective design elements to extend their lifespan. The result? Less waste, lower costs, and a workplace that evolves rather than erases. 🌱 Sustainability in design isn’t just about materials—it’s about mindset. The Elizabeth Line’s solution proves that sometimes, the smartest way forward isn’t replacing what works but redefining how we see it. ••• #PattrnWorkspace #OfficeDesign #CommercialOffice #FurnitureDesign #ModernFurniture #InteriorDesign #WorkplaceDesign #Innovation #Sustainability

In our last post, we imagined what it would be like to work in a Victorian-era office. But then came the Edwardian era, and gone were the oppressive interiors and overwhelming clutter! 👋 Imagine this: It's the early 1900s, you wake up, get dressed, and step into the office, ready for another day of work. But this isn’t the dark, cramped world of the Victorian era. Instead, natural light streams through larger, well-placed windows, illuminating the room with a warm glow. The air feels fresher, the space less suffocating. Desks, though still arranged in an orderly fashion, allow for a more open feel, no longer crammed into every available corner. Filing cabinets, a relatively new innovation, help declutter the workspace, keeping important documents stored neatly instead of piling up on desks. The furniture, though still crafted with care, is lighter and more functional, incorporating oak and mahogany with simpler, elegant designs that replace the excessively heavy and ornate Victorian pieces. In a sign of the times, early typewriters hum softly, replacing the scratch of quills on parchment. 🤨 The question is—would you thrive in this structured yet evolving office? ••• #PattrnWorkspace #OfficeDesign #CommercialOffice #FurnitureDesign #ModernFurniture #InteriorDesign #WorkplaceDesign #EdwardianPeriod
