At Overbury, we are dedicated to a workplace culture where mental health is not just acknowledged but actively supported. Understanding the unique pressures of the construction industry, we recently introduced a mental health workshop for site staff, including both Overbury employees and subcontractors. The workshop provided a safe space for nine site workers to engage in open discussions about mental health, helping to normalise the conversation and encourage peer support. As a result, ongoing one to one therapy sessions have been made available for those seeking additional support, ensuring that mental health care remains accessible beyond the initial session. A huge thank you to Sophie L. and Dr Rebecca Ryan from All Tomorrow's Therapies for their invaluable support. Did you know that 37% of students with a mental health condition age 14+ drop out of school? Recently, we joined two career carousels at St Matthias Academy these were held across their two sites in Bath and Bristol. It's a rewarding experience for everyone involved. The academy supports young people with a range of social and wellbeing needs, many of whom are at higher risk of becoming unemployed or not in education. Our team ran interactive, hands on sessions for students in Years 8–11, designed to introduce the breadth of careers in construction and create a positive first connection with the industry. From identifying PPE and understanding its importance, to team based problem solving and foundation building activities using Jenga, the sessions encouraged curiosity, confidence and practical thinking. The pro bono refurbishment completed for Stripey Stork , in collaboration with our incredible subcontractors, has been shortlisted for a Third Sector Business Charity Award 2025 in the Property & Construction category. Transforming Stripey Stork’s newly acquired warehouse into a fully functional, inclusive space has been a rewarding journey.
