The NHS urges the public to check for changes in their body and cancer symptoms. A new survey found people were twice as likely to regularly check the weather forecast or their bank balance than check themselves for potential signs of cancer. https://lnkd.in/etkiBhGv

Watch the moment a patient, once paralysed, walks unaided to thank her doctor whose care changed her life. Danielle arrived at Salford Royal Hospital paralysed from the neck down with severe nerve damage. Doctors warned Danielle that she might not walk again. ‘It was absolutely devastating when I was told. It was a traumatic time for me and my family.’ Diagnosed with a rare condition, nutritional neuropathy, Danielle had a vitamin deficiency which can lead to reduced motor functions. Danielle then spent five months at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. During this time, neurology consultant Dan and a team of care staff went above and beyond to help get her through recovery. Less than half a year on from leaving the hospital, Danielle is able to walk unaided again. ‘Thank you to Dr Dan and all the nurses on the unit and ward for getting me through everything and making me well. To get where I am now, being a mum, a wife and a nanna it’s the best thing.’ Brilliant work Danielle and team! 💙 If you’d like to join a team and make an impact on people’s lives, discover one of the 350 rewarding careers in the NHS. Betsy’s sister had regular hospital visits and had different tests every time she went. Betsy was curious and wanted to know more about her sister’s visits – why did she need these tests and what did the results mean? With her own lab coat and trainee scientist badge, Betsy went on a mission to find the answers. She learned what happened to her sister’s different blood tests and samples. She found out how the test results determined her sister’s treatments and care too. Thanks to the amazing team from University Hospital Southampton NHS FT, Betsy now understands more about her sister’s condition, treatments and healthcare. We have a budding a scientist-in-the-making!💙

Meet Isla, the first baby to be born in the brand-new maternity unit at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust. Isla’s mum, Katy, said: ‘We're thankful to all the staff here for their amazing care. I'm very tired but so excited. And our son, James, has happily told us he's, 'ready for not much sleep'!’ The new BEACH (Births, Emergency, And Critical Care, Children's Health) building at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital opened its doors at the end of March and is expected to welcome over 4,000 babies this year! Congratulations to Katy and her family on their new arrival 💙

Patients with advanced skin cancer in England are set to take part in revolutionary new trials of a new world-leading cancer vaccine. The vaccine helps the immune system to recognise, attack and ‘remember’ cancer cells, helping stop the disease returning. https://lnkd.in/eeMW_iyz

Watch how urgent blood samples are being transported across London – using drones! Transporting samples for high-risk patients between Hospitals at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust can take more than 30 minutes by road. Now, using high-tech drones, this can be as quick as two minutes. The new partnership between Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, Apian and Wing is helping clinicians achieve quicker results, so patients can get the best possible care and return home sooner. Amazing work! 🎥: Apian Wing

Last year we shared a video about Damien, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease just over 12 years ago. Parkinson’s is a condition where parts of the brain become progressively damaged over many years, and his condition meant everyday activities had become very difficult. In 2024, Damien was one of the first patients at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to receive a portable pump that gradually releases a newly available treatment called foslevodopa-foscarbidopa throughout the day, making symptoms more manageable. Damian said: ‘It’s been extraordinary and life-changing – the massive difference is that there are now no fluctuations. ‘So soon after first having the treatment I was able make a cup of coffee more easily and go to the supermarket, and I am also sleeping so much better.’ Now, Damian is regaining confidence and a sense of normality, and has returned to work. He is sharing his experiences with Parkinson’s, and continuing to fight the progression of the disease and slowing down his symptoms. #ParkinsonsAwarenessDay
