  • People can now step into a virtual reality version of Lanarkshire’s new hospital thanks to a futuristic digital immersive experience. The Immersive Suite uses the latest technology to bring to life plans for the New University Hospital Monklands, set to open at Wester Moffat, Airdrie, in 2031. The suite is operated by NHS Lanarkshire’s Monklands Replacement Project (MRP). The facility was officially opened by Neil Gray, MSP for Airdrie and Shotts. Mr Gray was joined by Martin Hill, Chair of the Board of NHS Lanarkshire, Colin Lauder, NHS Lanarkshire Interim Chief Executive, and John O'Connor, Group Commercial Director at MRP construction partner Laing O'Rourke, along with other guests. Launching the suite in his capacity as local MSP, Mr Gray said: “It is a great opportunity for the NHS staff and the Lanarkshire public to visualise what is to come in this project, which is incredibly important for the local community and for Scotland. “The eyes of the nation are on the MRP as it works to deliver a state-of-the-art hospital, which will be environmentally friendly and future-proofed through its design and the digital technology it will use. “As well as the healthcare benefits, the economic opportunity of such a large project coming to this area – and the ‘wealth building’ principle of the MRP’s approach – are vital. There is huge economic investment coming in this area and the new Monklands is central to that.” Martin Hill said: “It’s marvellous to see the Immersive Suite in action and witness the fantastic visuals it can display, which will be enormously helpful for our staff and the community to learn about the proposed design and layout of our new net zero hospital. “The use of digital technology to benefit patients and staff is at the forefront of our plans for the new Monklands, so it’s fitting that we have such a hi-tech facility at the heart of our engagement processes.” Colin Lauder added: “The Immersive Suite opening represents yet another important step forward on our journey to create a new state-of-the-art hospital for the communities of Lanarkshire. “It’s an ideal facility for our colleagues and the community to engage on the plans as we continue to develop our Full Business Case, with the aim of submitting it to the Scottish Government by the end of this year. “The suite has a 900-square-foot lecture theatre where sections of the hospital can be projected on three walls to give the audience an immersive experience and let them see departments and rooms at life size or on a grand scale. This includes areas such as a patient bedroom, an operating theatre, a consultation room and the Emergency Department waiting area." Full story https://lnkd.in/eSZVh_tj

  • Ashleigh Peters has been named University of the West of Scotland Business Management Graduate Apprenticeship Student of the Year, recognising her outstanding achievements in work-based learning while balancing full-time work and family life. A dedicated Planning and Performance Officer from South Lanarkshire University Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP), Ashleigh is currently in the final stages of her honours degree. She was recognised by UWS for her outstanding commitment, academic excellence and ability to apply her learning to make a real-world impact in health and social care. The award is a significant recognition of Ashleigh’s achievements as she balances full-time employment with her studies – all while raising a young family. Having started her apprenticeship three and a half years ago, she is now working towards completing her dissertation and is set to graduate later this year. Ashleigh said: “It’s been a challenging but incredibly rewarding journey. There have been plenty of late nights and busy weekends, but it’s all been worth it. “Studying business management has given me a deeper understanding of leadership, change management and how to implement projects effectively in a real-world setting.” Ashleigh’s studies allowed her to apply for and be successful for a promotion to her current role in April 2024. She added: “I’ve already been able to apply what I’ve learned directly in my new role, which has been a great motivator. “I’m really proud to be recognised by the university – and even more proud that my husband Graeme and our kids, Harrison and Amelia, have been right beside me through it all. They’re so supportive, and it meant the world to have Graeme at the awards ceremony.” https://lnkd.in/e482ZNKr

📣 NHS Lanarkshire is set to introduce eTriage, a digital check-in and triage system designed to enhance patient safety. 🏥 eTriage is an easy-to-use yet advanced digital system that involves the patient self-registering when they arrive in an Emergency Department. 📈 It supports clinicians by gathering key patient information at the point of arrival, allowing for faster assessment and prioritisation of care. ❌This system does not replace staff-led triage. ✅ Importantly, this system will support and enhance our existing processes helping to ensure patients get the right care as quickly as possible. 🔮This marks an important step forward in NHS Lanarkshire’s commitment to modern, patient-centred emergency care. 🌼Launching in Spring 2025, eTriage will first go live at University Hospital Monklands, followed by a phased rollout to University Hospital Wishaw and University Hospital Hairmyres. 🌍For the full story visit: https://lnkd.in/eBKdHEHC
