In collaboration with SP Energy Networks and Painhas, our team at the New University Hospital Monklands Project recently welcomed 11 students who are currently completing their level 6 FA Civil Engineering. These students were the first-ever group from schools across North Lanarkshire Council to be taken onto the site of the new Monklands Replacement Hospital. They were welcomed by Irene Gibb, Senior Community Benefits & Social Value Lead, and Craig Bryson, Senior Structures Project Engineer. The site visit was an integral part of their learning process, providing them with real-world exposure to the civil engineering required during enabling works and from the foundation stage onwards.

People can now step into a virtual reality version of Lanarkshire’s new hospital thanks to a futuristic digital immersive experience. The Immersive Suite uses the latest technology to bring to life plans for the new University Hospital Monklands, set to open at Wester Moffat, Airdrie, in 2031. The suite, operated by NHS Lanarkshire’s Monklands Replacement Project (MRP), represents the most up-to-date approach in major construction projects to engagement with the public and staff. The facility, at the existing University Hospital Monklands, was officially opened by Neil Gray, MSP for Airdrie and Shotts, at an event on 28 March. Full story https://lnkd.in/eSZVh_tj

We are delighted with this announcement and it is testament to the skills and professionalism from Chris Mitchell and the wider Keppie team, 👏
The shortlists for The Planning Awards 2025 have been announced – and the Keppie Team are delighted to share that we’ve been shortlisted for 5 awards across two projects! Our New University Hospital Monklands project has been nominated for both ‘Planning Permission of the Year’ and ‘Award for Infrastructure Planning’, and our One Cowcaddens project has been nominated for ‘Award for Design Excellence’, ‘Award for Best Housing Scheme (500 Homes of more)’ and ‘Award for Planning to Address Climate Change’. Chris Mitchell Associate Director and Planning lead, has led the planning input on both projects since their inception, and said: “Both the New University Monklands Hospital and One Cowcaddens have been a massive part of our collective working lives in recent years, and they have been a genuine pleasure to lead. While both projects lie within different sectors and different cities, they share a huge amount in common, both being transformational projects with design excellence and climate change at their core, and both offering the opportunity for long-lasting benefits beyond the physical extents of the site itself. What they also share was an excellent working relationship with an engaged local authority throughout the whole planning process, so our thanks go to North Lanarkshire Council and Glasgow City Council in this regard. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed!” The full shortlist can be viewed at https://lnkd.in/eruYu8JH NHS Lanarkshire Davidson Kempner Capital Management Global Mutual #shortlisted #awards #ukplanning #townplanning #planningawards2025 #planningpermission #sustainableplanning #housinginnovation

New University Hospital Monklands reposted this
📣 NHS Lanarkshire is set to introduce eTriage, a digital check-in and triage system designed to enhance patient safety. 🏥 eTriage is an easy-to-use yet advanced digital system that involves the patient self-registering when they arrive in an Emergency Department. 📈 It supports clinicians by gathering key patient information at the point of arrival, allowing for faster assessment and prioritisation of care. ❌This system does not replace staff-led triage. ✅ Importantly, this system will support and enhance our existing processes helping to ensure patients get the right care as quickly as possible. 🔮This marks an important step forward in NHS Lanarkshire’s commitment to modern, patient-centred emergency care. 🌼Launching in Spring 2025, eTriage will first go live at University Hospital Monklands, followed by a phased rollout to University Hospital Wishaw and University Hospital Hairmyres. 🌍For the full story visit: https://lnkd.in/eBKdHEHC
