Our Facilities Services Devonport project team has formed a strong alliance with Dartmoor Zoological Park over the last 12 months, volunteering with repair and restoration works at the Devon-based attraction. Since May last year, they have carried out an amazing 395 volunteering hours between 36 colleagues. On their most recent visit, they were joined by volunteers from client Babcock International Group and their client, the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). Everyone worked together to replace damaged fencing, construct new aviaries, undertake gutter and roof repairs, carry out gardening works such as grass cutting and hedge trimming, as well as building an Alpaca shelter. That’s not all, they provided support to rectify defects identified during their time at the zoo, while also benefitting from interaction with the park’s resident species during their work. Lydia Bale from the MOD said: “Your team were great and an absolute credit to NG Bailey. They worked hard to get the job done - I was very impressed! I would definitely be interested in more volunteering opportunities in the future, as I know the rest of my team would also be. Thank you for inviting us”.

We are committed to tackling the skills gap by investing in continuous learning, fostering collaboration, and creating growth opportunities. Through training, mentorship, and partnerships, we empower professionals with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry. The General Maintenance Operative (GMO) Upskilling Programme is designed to give individuals with the right mindset and behaviours the opportunity to develop technical skills through on-the-job training and formal qualifications. We’re proud to share that Conor Thewlis, who joined our Facilities Services business in October 2022 as a Mobile GMO, has successfully completed his ACS Gas Qualification, earning his Gas Safe certification. With support from an experienced mentor, Conor is now building his hands-on expertise across a variety of gas systems. His hard work and determination are a true reflection of the spirit of our GMO Programme. Congratulations, Conor! We’re excited to see you continue to grow and thrive with NG Bailey.
