It’s officially #TaxDay in the U.S. #Cybercriminals have been taking advantage of tax season over the past few months by launching #phishing campaigns that impersonate IRS communications and trusted accounting software providers. Samantha Clarke, our Senior Threat Research Engineer, examines how these campaigns are being used to deploy Remote Access Trojans and compromise sensitive financial data. These attacks enable threat actors to steal credentials, manipulate files, and escalate privileges, posing a serious threat to both client confidentiality and operational integrity. Microsoft is rolling out stricter email authentication requirements starting May 5, 2025. To ensure deliverability to Outlook, Hotmail, and Live accounts, senders must have #SPF, #DKIM, and at minimum, #DMARC p=none in place. This applies to any domain that sends 5,000+ emails in a single day, even during a one-time campaign. Non-compliance could mean emails land in junk folders or get rejected altogether.
