Tribute to Sir David McMurtry - an extraordinary life dedicated to enabling the future.

𝗦𝗶𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗠𝗰𝗠𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝟭𝟵𝟰𝟬-𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our co-founder, Sir David McMurtry. Sir David’s contributions to the field of engineering, science and manufacturing worldwide have been extraordinary. He was a truly inspirational leader and mentor, and will be greatly, greatly missed. Our thoughts are with Sir David’s family, friends and loved ones.

🏆 Top Gear “Track Weapon of the Year 2024” 🏆   Yesterday at BBC Studios in London, McMurtry Chief Engineer, Kevin Ukoko-Rongione collected the award from F1 TV presenter Natalie Pinkham and Top Gear Editor Jack Rix.   The award is the result of the front cover worthy test drive review which Ollie Marriage did this year.   Ollie’s enthusiastic feedback was:   "Even now, months later, I can remember exactly how the Spéirling made me feel - it made me feel like a superhero..."   “It accelerates like a dragster, turns like an F1 car. Nothing else is able to do what this does.”   “The size, weight, suspension and steering inspire confidence."   “It genuinely is a proper hoot."   On stage Kevin said “This car was born from a clean sheet by focusing on what is possible, not what's conventional. Combining ground breaking past innovations, like fan downforce from the Brabham BT46B F1 car, with state of the art EV technology, we've delivered an F1 fast yet fun track car which can be driven by all abilities.”    McMurtry Managing Director, Thomas Yates, was also in attendance along with motoring bosses from Gordon Murray Automotive, Aston Martin, Renault, McLaren, Lamborghini and others.    All award winners from the night can be found on TopGear.com and in the latest TG Magazine.
