Since the introduction of our #Reimagine strategy, transformation across JLR has continued at pace as we deliver our vision for the future. This week we reached a landmark moment in our digital transformation: the successful implementation of the cloud‑based enterprise planning system SAP S/4HANA at our Halewood, Merseyside site, which will increase efficiency and collaboration for our people and our suppliers. Through our partnership with Tata Technologies, the global engineering, product development and digital services company, we are accelerating the delivery of #JLR’s next generation luxury vehicles and experiences. We’re using advanced digital technologies that will revolutionise operations for employees and suppliers, driving operational efficiencies and stability, and enhancing collaboration. Paulina Chmielarz, Digital and Innovation Director, said: “This project is one of the largest transformations of an IT landscape in the automotive industry in the last decade. It is the most advanced integration of #PLM, #ERP and #MES visible in automotive, which is an amazing accomplishment." Congratulations to everyone involved in this project! #SAP #S4HANA #DigitalTransformation #EnterpriseSoftware #Innovation #Capabilities

Imagine being asked to take part in a ‘charging safari’... it isn’t quite the trip of a lifetime involving elephants, giraffes or lions in the African savannah, but it is critical to our electrification journey according to Victoria Sharpe, Customer Experience Design Manager in JLR’s Electrification Services team. Her role encompasses public charging, home charging, and energy, and through analysing #customerinsights and research and her involvement in validation and testing, Vicky understands how #JLR clients think and feel, finessing experiences to the highest level to ensure complete client satisfaction. “I feel really privileged. I get to advocate for our clients and be the voice of the client. I test our propositions with clients and gauge their reactions – it’s super rewarding finding out they really love what we do, what we've made and that they can see it filling a gap for them and being helpful. It’s incredible, it's a high of no other kind really.” Vicky runs so-called ‘charging safaris’; “We give people an I-PACE and ask them to come back in an hour with more charge than when they left. If you had a petrol car, you’d know exactly how to do that – we equip people with the knowledge to maximise range and make smart decisions. It’s fun and shows us how everyone’s different – it helps us consider different factors about our clients’ experiences and how people approach it in varied ways through the most native route for them. I ensure we’re not just launching a minimum viable product, but something that's lovable and usable. Everything is underpinned by giving clients a top-notch, five-star experience.” Following a Sports Engineering degree, Vicky worked as an innovation engineer for Adidas, living in Oregon, USA, working on basketball footwear. “As part of that, we used Friday afternoons to innovate. I taught myself how to code and ended up writing a facial recognition software to understand how customers were reacting to our products through their micro-facial expressions. JLR was interested in the applications of this for their #ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) technology to know when a driver became unwell behind the wheel. It was a really random route to come into a company I have so much love for.” After working in ADAS, innovative technologies and safety features that support the driver, enhance vehicle safety and improve the driving experience, Vicky moved into #electrification two-and-a-half years ago. Lifelong brand advocate Vicky added: “I've grown up on Land Rover. I've restored classic Land Rovers with my dad since I was old enough to be more help than a hindrance! I took my driving test in a Series 3 lightweight, so I grew up on the brand. It’s really special to me. “I'm so excited to launch our electric products. We've worked so hard to build an ecosystem around the car to keep the client safe and have a security blanket around them. I can't wait to see clients’ reactions when it goes live.” #Reimagine #EV

From launching Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Jaguar XJ limo, to sharing a stage at a motor show with David Beckham, it’s all in a day’s work for Jaguar Body in White Launch Manager Jamie Campbell. With an automotive career spanning 36 years, Jamie works at our Solihull site and is responsible for programme and project delivery, ahead of the production of JLR’s new luxury Jaguar vehicles and has proudly adapted to an ever-changing industry as it prepares for an all-electric future. “I have a really high-performing team doing an excellent job to make sure our Jaguar body shop is the best body shop that JLR has ever had. I'm convinced that goal is achievable; the work we’re doing is ground-breaking.” The new body shop at Solihull will be equipped for JLR's electrification journey and designed with sustainability in mind. Jamie said; “It will be pleasant to work in and appealing for clients to visit too. Electrification is driving us to do something different and consider it from a luxury mindset; it’s about looking at the bigger picture and taking everything into consideration. We’ve upped our game from a product perspective, now we’re doing it from a manufacturing point of view too. “We’re always looking at continuous improvement; how to become more efficient, to drive a higher quality, and how technology can automate our processes to ensure efficiency. Jaguar has been around for some time and a lot of lessons span decades. We are working with a very agile mindset to improve our product delivery. There are some valuable processes and techniques that we must stick to even in these modern times, so we respect the legacy and heritage.” Jamie advocates for his team, creating an enjoyable atmosphere but ensuring development opportunities are in abundance. “I’m always bringing people into meetings to gain experience. It’s important to get people off the line and develop them, encouraging cross-collaboration and exposing them to different aspects of the business. It’s unleashed some really great potential.” Although initially sceptical about the transition to all-electric, Jamie said; “It’s the right decision because more and more people are buying electric vehicles. The overall range is significantly improving, the performance of the cars is uncompromised, and charge times have improved massively because the technology is advancing. I think people are perhaps stuck in the mindset of thinking it will take eight hours to charge a car for it to only have a 200-mile range, when that’s not the case. I’m excited to launch our new Jaguar products – the immediate future for our new Jaguar vehicles is exciting, but it’s going to be even better beyond that!” #JLR #Reimagine #Electrification #Manufacturing #Jaguar
