Stop Overturns! IPAF Launches 2025 Global Safety Campaign The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) has launched its Global Safety Campaign for 2025: Stop Overturns – Safety Starts on the Ground! IPAF’s annual safety campaign, informed by data from its global Accident Reporting Portal, delivers a crucial message to the powered access industry. This year’s campaign focuses on the serious and often fatal consequences of mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) overturns. These incidents can result in operators and occupants being ejected from the platform and create complex rescue scenarios for those trapped at height during a partial overturn. The latest statistics informing this year’s campaign revealed that: - Fatal overturns increased by 50% from January 2021 to December 2023. - In the last decade, 108 fatalities, 64 major injuries, and 25 minor injuries, were reported and attributed to overturns incidents involving MEWPs. 64% of overturns were reported from North America, 18% from Europe, and 22% from Asia. - The occupation most affected was MEWP operators, with a small number from delivery drivers, technicians/engineers, company staff and the public...READ MORE ONLINE #Accident #Safety #Campaign Read more online here: https://lnkd.in/ewEYck8t

FlyDrive Company PAL-V Clears Essential Certification Milestone The EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency, has issued a ‘No Technical Objection’ to PAL-V, the Dutch company that developed and is commercialising the world’s first FlyDrive vehicle (Flying Car). EASA’s Senior Project Certification Manager for VTOL, Volker Arnsmeier, reinforced the significance of this moment, stating: “This is the first time ever we have issued a No Technical Objection (NTO) for a FlyDrive vehicle in the Innovative Air Mobility sector—a major step toward certifying the PAL-V Liberty.” The PAL-V Liberty vehicle has been under development since 2008. The vehicle drives on the road and can be quickly converted into an aircraft. By integrating air and road travel into one vehicle, it offers very safe door-to-door, long distance mobility. The certification for road use was achieved in 2020, and the No Technical Objection is EASA’s endorsement of PAL-V’s detailed compliance demonstration program to finalise flight certification. It confirms that there are no known risks preventing full type certification...READ MORE ONLINE #Aviation #Flying #Cars Read more online: https://lnkd.in/eJ_5h98F

Improving Life for the Workforce with Automation As a manufacturing company, you’re only making money when the spindles are turning. Automation can help maximise that time, but where does that leave human workers? With more time to spend doing what they are best at, says Steven Nollett, operations manager at heavy vehicle steering parts specialist Pailton Engineering Limited. At its core, automation isn’t just about machines running longer, it’s about making better use of human potential. When workers are freed from the grind of constant loading, unloading and monitoring, they’re able to shift their focus to solving problems, refining processes and maximising the capabilities of new technology. This is a cultural change as much as a technological one, challenging long-held practices and encouraging teams to think creatively about how to work smarter. Automation isn’t about replacing jobs, it’s about elevating them...READ MORE ONLINE #Automation #Workforce Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e3sB_tPg
