Damage to the Sycamore Gap tree was valued at over £620,000, but what value do we place on our urban trees? As cities face rising temperatures, trees help cool our streets by up to 5°C, while improving air quality and supporting wellbeing - read our latest article as we break down the value 👉 https://lnkd.in/esKgVTeP #UrbanTrees #Greenspaces #TreeManagement #ClimateResilience #Biodiversity

Not what I expected to see when walking by the beach… 🐐 Out for a family stroll along the beach (appreciating how lucky we are to have this on our doorstep as soon as the sun comes out) when I spotted these goats just casually making their way along the coastline. Somehow I’d missed this project, but they’re part of a long-term conservation initiative by BCP Council and Natural England. These goats help manage invasive vegetation in steep, hard-to-reach areas; a clever, sustainable way to protect biodiversity and restore the natural habitat. Seen anything unexpected (but genius) in your local area? #Conservation #Environment #Greenspaces #Innovation

Great to see Alan Williams at the HAUC(UK) Convention today! Positive news from our partners at Ordnance Survey, with #NUAR set to go live this summer; bringing safer, more efficient works through better access to asset data. #Data #Conference #AssetManagement #Streetworks
It’s been a good day in Manchester, highlight of the HAUC Conference for me was confirmation that NUAR will be live by summer, now under the stewardship of Ordnance Survey #hauc #kaarbontech

A busy day in Oxford exploring venues for our upcoming industry event, focused on drainage and future flood resilience. A great mix of locations; from historic academic halls to a fully net zero eco-farm. Plenty of inspiration in a city full of character. KaarbonTech #Flooding #FloodRisk #Events #OxfordUniversity l

Walsall Council moved away from reactive drainage maintenance to a smarter, risk-based strategy – targeting high-risk locations and cutting out unnecessary work. The result? Fewer floods, safer roads, and an 85% reduction in emergency call outs. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eJ2cEJrA #FloodResilience #HighwayDrainage #DataDrivenDecisions #RiskBasedMaintenance #GullySMART #SustainableDrainage Kathryn Moreton

Looking forward to attending ADEPT #LiveLabs2 Expo again this year! Excited to hear the latest on the Wessex Live Labs project - Cornwall Council, Hampshire County Council, and Somerset Council pushing the boundaries on what 'Net-Zero Corridors' could look like. Decarbonising highway maintenance is no small challenge, so it’ll be interesting to see how innovation and circular solutions are shaping the future of our roads. #LiveLabs #NetZeroRoads #HighwaysInnovation #SustainableInfrastructure KaarbonTech Liverpool City Council Neil Guild Mike O'Dowd-Jones

More than just flood prevention, Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) help manage surface water, reduce pollution, and create greener, more resilient spaces. From rain gardens to permeable paving, they’re shaping how we design communities to work with water, not against it.

How Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) Help Prevent Flash Flooding | Explained in 90 Seconds! Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) are essential for managing surface water and reducing the risk of flash flooding. In this 90-second video, I break down how SuDS work, why they’re crucial in urban areas, and how they help prevent flooding by slowing and absorbing rainwater naturally. 🔹 What are SuDS? 🔹 How do they reduce flood risk? 🔹 Why should developers and homeowners care? #SustainableDrainage #SuDS #FloodPrevention #UrbanFlooding #DrainageSolutions #SustainableWaterManagement

Throwback to last week at #APSEParksSeminar - one of our biggest takeaways was Marcus Gayle’s presentation on activating spaces and communities through SuDS implementation. A great example of this in action is the ‘Thornville Street Rain Garden’ by Lewisham Council. A tarmacked area was transformed into a functional green space, reducing flood risk while enhancing biodiversity and urban cooling. Projects like this show the real impact of blue-green infrastructure in making communities more resilient.
