Introducing Open Sourcing CDR—where we’ll be lifting the hood on Isometric.  Rebuilding trust in carbon markets is central to Isometric’s mission—and transparency is a core part of how we will do that. You can already see every calculation behind every carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credit on the Isometric Registry. Now, we’re going one step further: open sourcing the foundations of Isometric and sharing how we’re building a modern carbon registry. In this new series, Eamon Jubbawy will share how we operationalize science, how we work with partners and what we’ve learned over the past four years of building Isometric. We’re sharing these lessons because we believe they will advance the CDR ecosystem’s collective understanding of what is needed to reach gigatonne scale. The first installment introduces the Isometric Credit Principles—four core tenets that govern how we issue high quality CDR credits. Swipe through to explore our Credit Principles—and stay tuned for the next installment.

  • Isometric is looking for dMRV partners in reforestation.  We’ve launched a request for information (RFI) to identify digital monitoring, reporting and verification (dMRV) providers who can support verification under our Reforestation Protocol. If you’re a dMRV provider working in Reforestation, we want to hear from you. Follow the first link in the comments to get started.

  • Carboneers used to upload verification data manually—costing them time and revenue. Now, with data automation through Isometric Certify, they can focus on scaling carbon removal to the level the planet needs and complete their verification monthly. Hear from Co-Founder Mart de Bruijn on how Certify is helping scale Carboneers’ business and accelerating their climate impact. Find out how you can get started with Certify at the link in the comments.

  • Today, Isometric released the first-ever River Alkalinity Enhancement (RAE) Protocol for public consultation—outlining the requirements for high-quality carbon removal via rivers. Rivers are the primary way carbon moves across the Earth’s continents to the oceans and they release up to 2.5 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year. RAE works by carefully adding finely crushed alkaline rocks—like limestone—to river water. These materials react with carbon dioxide in the river, converting it into stable carbonate and bicarbonate ions. This prevents the carbon dioxide in the river from being released into the atmosphere and allows it to be stored in the oceans for tens of thousands of years. The protocol was developed in line with the Isometric Standard, through collaboration between Isometric’s in-house Science Team and reviewers from Isometric’s independent Science Network of over 300 scientific experts. CarbonRun, a leading RAE supplier, provided extensive feedback during the development of this protocol. We’re inviting comments on the protocol from interested buyers, suppliers and scientists during the 30-day public consultation. Learn how to contribute at the first link in the comments.
