  • Say hello to Derek! 👋 Read on to learn more about his role and his life – from Scottish castles, to playing guitar and taxiing his kids to and from various activities and events! 🏰 🚖 🎸 #MeetTheTeam #MedCommsCareers ⭐ Hey Derek! Tell us about your role and what it is you do. As the SVP, Group Director of Medical Strategy, I lead our Medical Services teams at Caudex | An IPG Health Company – that includes our talented writers and strategists. My role involves setting the strategic direction for our Medical teams, ensuring our high-performing teams continue to deliver excellence across the service mix, exceeding client expectations along the way! ⭐ What do you love most about your role? It has to be the people! I have (and have had) the opportunity to support, collaborate, and lead diverse teams of incredibly talented individuals. Across our agency and network, we have a group of truly spectacular people. ⭐ What do you wish you had known when you were younger? That we all have our unique and diverse skills and can add value in many different ways. In my younger years, I probably spent too long focussing on ticking those traditional ‘boxes’ of success. It wasn’t until later that I realized that many of the things I do well, and enjoy doing, were not taught in a classroom or written in a textbook. Focussing on where my strengths truly lie has allowed me to develop and expand. ⭐ What do you like to do when you’re not working? My second job is as an Uber driver taking my kids to various activities and events, which doesn’t leave a lot of time for my own pastimes or hobbies. I take the winter off, but as the weather improves, I’ll be out running the local trails to shed those extra pounds. ⭐ What has been your greatest achievement to date? I find it difficult to narrow down professional achievements to any ‘one thing’. I’m continually impressed by how our talented teams collaborate to deliver incredible solutions for our clients. However, a highlight was winning Communiqué 'Medical Affairs Agency of the Year' in 2024. Outside of work, it must be raising our family with my wife, Dani. I can only take some of the credit, but I do take a lot of pride in watching our four kids develop and grow into some pretty incredible humans! ⭐ List 3 words that best describe you. Passionate Thoughtful Funny ⭐ Tell us something about you that might surprise people. My wife and I tied the knot in a 13th-Century Scottish Castle. We figured that a building that has endured the test of time (and the Scottish weather) was a good foundation – 17 years and counting… ⭐ If you could do a job for just one day, what would it be? Because I’m a (very) average guitar player, I’d be a member of a band – creating and playing music would be very fulfilling. ⭐ What’s currently top of your playlist? My playlists keep getting hijacked by my 9-year-old daughter, but if I remove the seemingly endless Taylor Swift songs it would be “Corduroy Couch” by Brown Horse.

  • This month we caught up with Tia, Client Finance Analyst, based in the UK. Read on to discover what makes her proud to be a part of our network, her greatest achievements and her go-to Karaoke song🎤🎶 #MedCommsCareers #MeetTheTeam 🌟 Hey Tia! Tell us a bit about you. As a Client Finance Analyst, I analyze the revenue for the agency I look after. This involves producing monthly reports, working closely with Client Services and giving support and guidance to the agency on any financial matters based on trends and data analysis. 🌟 What do you love most about your role? I love that we work closely with teams other than finance, as it allows me to see a different perspective of what we do at IPG Health Med Comms and how each role links together to form a bigger picture. I also love having the responsibility of overseeing an agency from a financial point of view. And although my role isn’t directly involved with clients, it’s still extremely rewarding to be part of a team that helps make a difference to patients’ lives. 🌟 What has been your biggest achievement to date? My greatest work-related achievement would be my development in this role. Prior to working here, I had very minimal experience in an analysis role, so I am proud of how far I have come since. I have had incredible support and guidance along the way and I look forward to what the future brings for me working here. My greatest non-work related achievement to date would be the purchase of my own place 3 years ago at 24 years old. Since then, I have made it super homely and now feel very comfortable living in this new town 🏡 🌟 What do you wish you had known when you were younger? “Everything happens for a reason”. 🌟 How do you look after your own wellbeing? I love spending time with friends & family. I have also recently gotten into reading and running (I have booked my first 10k in May). And plenty of “me time”!! 😊 🌟 How would your friends and family describe you in 3 words? Dependable, Trustworthy, Driven. 🌟 What’s your go-to Karaoke song? Whitney Houston – I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

  • 🌟What an inspiring few days at #ISMPPEurope 2025 Reflecting on the future of #MedPubs and #MedComms, our team on the ground shared some key takeaways that will shape our path forward: 🔹 Patient lived experience at the core: With 1 in 4 working-age adults living with a disability, it's crucial to build a more equitable and inclusive scientific exchange 🔹 Evolving Publications: The future goes beyond PDFs. Embracing video, audio and plain language formats, powered by ethical AI, will make scientific content truly accessible 🔹 Growth through discomfort: Innovation requires us to challenge norms, confront hard truths and lead with empathy and integrity 🔹 Higher standards: We must challenge bias, bridge knowledge gaps and create ethical, impactful medical communications. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to these thought-provoking discussions. We’re excited to put these insights into action! 🚀
