It was a pleasure to take part in this year’s Value Invest Conference in New York as the value investor community marked the arrival of a ‘Value Spring’.    Portfolio Manager Django Davidson was joined by Gwin Myerberg to fly the Hosking Partners flag in the Big Apple and spoke to attendees all about the opportunity our Capital Cycle approach has identified in Platinum Group Metals (PGMs).   Django discussed how following a decade of underinvestment into new supply we believe the industry is primed to benefit from a significant tailwind, which will only be boosted if the EV revolution is not as speedy as previously projected. He also shared insights into our PGM basket and discussed how our diversified approach allows our portfolio to invest where others cannot – all while finding links to Dolly Parton! It’s so fun to see amazing people from different worlds come together! At the Quality Growth and Value Investor Conference this week in NYC organized by Robert Hunter, I heard many stock ideas from investors who I greatly admire. The conference overall was phenomenal. Quite a bonus being able to hang out with old friends from Hong Kong like Andrew Dougherty at the same time. And being able to be with fellow BYU alumni Hunter Blalack and Elias Erickson Meanwhile, who is volunteering at the Conference? Former Young Investors Society All-Stars - Carl Lu Michael Que and Mehul Singh who are now at NYU studying Finance. Amazing! Serendipity moments are the best ✨
