We saw a huge turnout last week at our Employment Law update breakfast event, hosted by our partners DLA Piper. A special thanks to Jonathan Exten-Wright Vinita Arora and Jan Colhoun who shared their thoughts and potential impacts on the sweeping changes the Employment Rights Bill will have on our industry and employment practices. Exactly how this major piece of legislation will play out is still yet to be seen, with most changes not scheduled until 2026. From expected changes to zero-hour contracts (now including agency workers), probationary periods, new union rights, the removal of waiting days for SSP, collective redundancy and day 1 employment rights. Registration for the 2025 HR in Hospitality Survey closes at the end of April, with already over 50 companies signed up for our 2025 survey (ranging from independent hotels to larger national chains and restaurant groups) join what is becoming one of the sector's largest and most comprehensive salary & benefits surveys. Participation in this survey is FREE to all our members; and the confidential report will be sent to all participants in the Summer. We also welcome non-member organisations to participate for a nominal fee of £95. Over 90 companies participated in our 2024 survey, covering a workforce of over 42,500 employees across over 500 sites in the UK. The Survey is further broken down into sectors to provide both a comparative data set and wider industry set. In 2024 we provided data for London Hotels, Hotels outside of London, Private Members Clubs and Restaurants & Bars.
