GIRI is teaming up with Construction Quality Improvement Collaborative (CQIC) to hold a joint meeting on 24 June in Glasgow that will explore building safety and quality in construction following the Grenfell Tower inquiry report. This meeting will bring together leaders from across the public and private sectors to discuss and learn from efforts to improve construction quality and safety, including developments in error reduction and case studies of how error reduction has contributed to improved productivity and quality. Confirmed speakers include Stephen Garvin from The Scottish Government, Colin Harris from Robertson Group, Cliff Smith FICE from GIRI, and Colin Campbell from Scottish Futures Trust and co-chair of the CQIC. ICYMI: The Get It Right Initiative has launched a new £10,000 grant scheme to support research into the causes and impacts of error in construction and the effectiveness of approaches to reduce error, improve productivity, quality, safety and sustainability. The scheme will fund up to four individual grants available each year to PhD students conducting research in any discipline related to the aims of the Get It Right Initiative. Research findings will be shared with GIRI members and the wider construction sector through a research showcase.
