In late March, GCHQ’s Director for Technology Futures Dr Marsha Quallo-Wright delivered a keynote speech at the world’s largest female data event, Women In Data 2025. Marsha shared her personal journey into the world of STEM, and the significance of data and diversity at GCHQ, inspiring an audience of 3,500 women from across sectors in the data industry. Did you know? In December 2024, over 14,500 girls took part in our @ NCSC’s CyberFirst Girls competition, bringing the total number of entrants to around 85,000 since the programme launched in 2017 to encourage girls to pursue a career in cybersecurity

Key details and advice from our brilliant National Cyber Security Centre ⬇️
The NCSC and partners have revealed new details about how malicious cyber actors are using two forms of spyware to target individuals in Uyghur, Tibetan and Taiwanese communities as well as civil society groups. The spyware variants – MOONSHINE and BADBAZAAR – hide malicious functions inside otherwise legitimate apps. Once installed, they can access microphone, camera, messages, photos, and location data, including real-time tracking, without the user being aware. Individuals at risk of being targeted by these spyware apps are strongly encouraged to follow our practical advice to help protect their devices and data. - Stay mainstream: Don’t ‘jailbreak’ or ‘root’ devices and only use trusted app stores - Stay organised: Review installed apps and permissions regularly - Stay in touch: Report suspicious messages and files - Stay safe: Be vigilant on social media and check shared files and links Read more: https://lnkd.in/e4_j9MFh

📢 Attention Board Members and Senior Leaders: How confident is your organisation in managing cyber risk? Our CEO Richard Horne explains how this practical resource helps you govern cyber risk with confidence in our latest blog⬇️ https://lnkd.in/egxgSRvc. Cyber threats no longer sit solely with IT, they impact your operations, your reputation, and your bottom line and boards have a critical role to play in overseeing it. In collaboration with the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, we developed the Cyber Governance for Boards: a practical resource designed to help you govern cyber risk with confidence. Built specifically for UK boards, directors, trustees, and advisors across public and private sectors, it includes: - A Cyber Governance Code of Practice - Board-level cyber training - A practical toolkit to support implementation Boards are not expected to be technical experts, but they play a vital role in ensuring cyber risks are managed strategically. According to the Cyber Breaches Survey 2024: - 74% of large organisations experienced cyber breaches - Only 66% have a cyber strategy in place - Just 23% assess supply chain risks This resource gives boards the clarity, confidence, and capability to act.
