📢 The most recent episode of our G4C South West Podcast is now available on all major streaming platforms 📢 The March episode takes a closer look at the future of contracting with regional contractor Speller Metcalfe, exploring procurement trends, the impact of innovation, and strategies to address the industry’s skills shortage.
Something slightly different from the usual day job... I’m excited to share that Will Freer and I are the most recent hosts of the G4C South West Podcast, having produced the March episode, which is now available on Spotify! In this episode, Will and I had the pleasure of speaking with Adrian Speller and James Speller, Joint Managing Directors of Speller Metcalfe, to explore the future of contracting. Our conversation touched on several key themes, including the evolving landscape of procurement, the importance of innovation as a driver of industry progress, and how we can tackle the growing skills shortage across the sector. It was a thought-provoking conversation with valuable insights for anyone involved in the built environment; we hope you enjoy! We are all guilty of spending too much time talking about the skills shortage in construction, and not enough time trying to fix it! If we want to address this ongoing issue, and attract more diverse talent to join our industry, then we need to change outdated perceptions of what a career in construction and the built environment offers. The Build a Better Tomorrow campaign is a short film commissioned by Building Greater Exeter and Build Torbay to inspire young people to consider the range of exciting and rewarding careers in construction. As an industry, we need to shout about the diversity of roles and unlimited opportunities available in construction!
