Ori launches at Salone del Mobile.Milano 2025. Foster + Partners Industrial Design, and Danese Milano introduce Ori, a sculptural and versatile bird feeder designed to be suspended from a tree branch, as a floor standing feeder, or as a standing water bath. Ori is a distinctive addition to any outdoor space. Its name originates from the Japanese word ‘Tori’, which means bird. Ori was crafted through an iterative design process focused on aesthetics, functionality and purity. Composed of spun aluminium cones, stainless steel elements and threaded aluminium tubes, its vertical axis locks all components together ensuring stability and ease of maintenance. Responding to seasonal changes and bird species, the swapable feeding tube and cages allow for a variety of food types, including seeds, nuts and suet. Ori’s design simplifies cleaning, reducing the risk of disease transmission among birds. The bird feeder is designed to protect the feed from the rain while allowing for aeration through a perforated tray. The water bath features an overflow drainage system that directs excess water through a central tube to the ground. “Through our research into bird species, feeding habits and seasonal variations across different continents, we discovered that bird feeders can be a significant source of disease transmission. Ori prioritises ease of disassembly and sanitation, making it both a functional feeder and a sculptural statement.” Mike Holland, Head of Industrial Design at Foster + Partners. 🔗 Discover the project: https://brnw.ch/21wRPGy #IndustrialDesign #Innovation #Design #SalonedelMobile2025

As part of our ongoing research with The DisOrdinary Architecture Project—focused on exploring inclusive design in the built environment—this week we visited our second site, Crossrail Place, Canary Wharf Group. The mixed-use scheme is located in the north dock of Canary Wharf, and connects visitors with retail units, transport links, and access to nature and public spaces. The research group is made up of a diverse group of creatives with dynamic disabilities and intersectional perspectives. Their insights will drive the project, exploring lived experiences and embedding a more holistic and inclusive vision for the built environment. #InclusiveDesign #Architecture #Design #AccessibleDesign #DisabilityDesign
