We made it. Few and Far® is now a Certified B Corp 🎉 B Corp is a certification undertaken by B Lab who are an independent, global, multi-stakeholder group with specific expertise in responsible and sustainable business and unlike other certifications, B Lab is unique in their ability to measure a company’s entire social and environmental impact. And that‘s what they did. The assessment - which took us over two years - was rigorous, evaluating the company across five key areas: Governance, Workers, Environment, Customers and Community. Using data from the previous 12 months, we were required to answer around 200 questions within the assessment, with responses verified by B Lab’s independent Standards Team. We reached the required accreditation score of 80 and then some – scoring 118.9. For comparison, the average score for a typical UK business is currently 50.9. What does it mean for our Charity partners: Becoming a Certified B Corp means that we have taken the steps to ensure that Few and Far in its operation meets the highest standards of social and environmental impact. Finding a partner your charity can trust takes a lot of time, energy and can often be risky. We’ve invested the time in ourselves to evidence our responsible practices across charitable work, energy, worker compensation, suppliers, diversity, and transparency to make your decision easier. I’m so f*cking proud of us. I’d like to say a massive thank you to Phil Clarke for all of your efforts and wisdom when it comes to everything B Corp; we'd have been completely lost without your support. To the team at B Lab UK for all of their hard work in assessing us and to @muneer ahma our assessor for all his valuable insight and recommendations. And finally to Thomas & Cat for the support and keeping me motivated to get it all over the line; the work, writing, evidence and policies we created for this has been difficult but so worthwhile - but I couldn't have done it without their support. Take a look at my personal story of the journey to B Corp, how I first came across it, what motivated me to start us on the road and what it means to me to finally be certified: https://lnkd.in/eznChE6V #BCorp #WhatInspiresMe #ForGood #Charity #Agency #Leeds

Amplifying planet-positive businesses with a strategy-led, low-carbon website and a partnership that supports your long-term mission, boosts business and wins your time back

The one often forgotten about website feature that has emerged to now make it “cool” to be nice: Ethical design and marketing isn’t just about sustainability or transparency, it’s about inclusivity too. (more on how inclusivity even boosts your website traffic shortly) Last Wednesday, I attended a brilliant web accessibility session by Colin Grist from Few and Far®. From the session, we learnt that 97% of top websites aren’t fully accessible. That means millions face unnecessary barriers just trying to browse like the rest of us. But the accessibility rating of your website will even affect your SEO. That’s because Google will rank your site higher if you’ve made it more inclusive! You can view how Google sees your site using Google Pagespeed Insights. See and example screenshot below. (I guess those Google peeps aren’t so bad after all?) So, here are 5 ways to improve your website’s accessibility (and therefore traffic): ✅ Use meaningful alt text – Close your eyes and listen to the description to test if it’s descriptive enough ✅ Fix colour contrast issues – Ensure text is readable (4.5:1 contrast ratio minimum) but check AA and AAA standards. ✅ Make your site work with a keyboard – Try navigating with just the tab key. If you can’t, it’s not accessible. ✅ Avoid autoplay and carousels – Movement should be optional, with a pause button. Equally, don’t force animations on people and have a way to disable them ✅ Structure content properly – Headings (H1, H2, H3) should follow a logical order so screen readers can navigate them. Thanks to Few and Far for the great session! If you haven’t checked your site for accessibility before, it’s worth a look. P.S. That’s not the only way you can boost your website traffic: 💡 I’m running a talk for planet-positive and purpose-driven businesses on how to get more website traffic. I’ll cover traffic sources, examples and strategies. 16th of April @ 2pm. 🔗 Sign up here: https://lu.ma/46qv89fe

Now that the dust has settled on another livestream fundraiser for Leeds Mind, I’m absolutely delighted to announce Get Together Through Gaming has raised £8.2k for mental health support services here in Leeds. After starting GTTG with our pilot in 2023, the amount raised and the streamers involved has consistently increased and has now raised over £20k in what equates to only 9 days total. The event has included over 150 fundraisers to date, playing games, having fun with their community and speaking about the importance of mental wellbeing. This year was the most polished yet; there was posters all across Leeds businesses, bars and restaurant's, we created custom t-shirts (with all proceeds going to Leeds Mind), we branded up our own office arcade cabinet, streamed as a team from our office and even got interviewed by ITV! I'd like to personally thank the sponsors who also took part this year (sorry for the pestering!), it is massively helpful and really helped to kickstart this years event and to Sophie & Emily from Leeds Mind for their constant support, dedication and willingness to get stuck in each and every year. If you'd like to see what we got up to, check out the merchandise, see the schedule that took place and meet the streamers involved visit: https://gttg.stream I’m sure we’ll be back in 2026 for more fun, friends, emojis and games 🎮 #MentalHealthMatters #Fundraising #Gaming #Donate Thanks to our Sponsors: David Eccles, Jonny O'Reardon, Dan Waters, Kelly Weston (Sebine), Sam Taylor 🌱💻, Matt Wheeler, Daniel Hall, Abb-d Taiyo, Driftime® – A Design & Impact Agency, madeby.studio, The Data City, Adarak, Numiko, The Brand Federation

  • Unfortunately, we can't often change how others work or how they communicate with you, but we can change when you open yourself up to lines of communication, when you make time to work on specific tasks in your role and - just as importantly - when you take a break. We call this the Default Diary and to us, it's extremely important in keeping our days on track, without letting days run away with us. Find out all about the Default Diary and how to implement it into your working week on our Charity Hub: https://lnkd.in/eXSEYBue #Charity #Planning #ThirdSector #MentalHealth

  • We’d like to highlight one of our wonderful partners today: Seagulls Reuse, who are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. Seagulls Reuse Ltd are a nationally recognised and award-winning social enterprise based locally to us, here in Leeds, who recycles and reuses paint from landfill to provide employment, volunteering and training opportunities. They joined us last year as part of our Nurture Programme and we've been supporting them to improve how people order their paint and how the website works for them as a team to better tell their story. After their recent store move, they also celebrated turning 20 years old and instead of having a one-off celebration they decided to do something a little bit different... Did you know that we work with UK Community Foundations, the national membership organisation for accredited community foundations around the UK? UKCF is a national network of 47 community foundations, bringing together people and organisations that want to improve their communities. Lydia Cerguera, Communications and Marketing Manager had this to say on their continued partnership with us: “Our partnership with Few and Far began, really, because of seeing their desire to support charities through honest skills sharing. Having worked with several of our members already, Few and Far had a deep understanding of what community foundations do and the impact we wanted to show on our website. Through the Nurture Programme, their team have creatively listened, explored, tested and collaborated on ideas with us behind the scenes – not as a pay-by-the-hour service, but as an extra member of our team – always looking for the best results.” Learn more about our Nurture Programme and how we can work with you to give your organisation time back, whilst moving you forward at the link below: https://lnkd.in/emTsVTa6 #Community #CommunityFoundation #Charity
