  • At Entelechy, we celebrate open-mindedness as one of our 54 character qualities. But what does it mean to be open-minded? It’s the willingness to embrace new ideas, perspectives, and possibilities without judgment or rigidity. It’s about listening—truly listening—to others, even when their views challenge our own. An open mind doesn’t cling to assumptions; it seeks understanding, thrives on curiosity, and welcomes growth. Being open-minded doesn’t mean abandoning your values. Instead, it’s a courageous act of balance—holding your beliefs lightly enough to let them evolve. It’s the spark of innovation, the bridge to connection, and the foundation of wisdom. At Entelechy, we nurture this quality to empower learners to explore the world with humility and wonder. Reflecting on my own journey, I’ve found that staying open-minded often feels uncomfortable at first—like stretching a muscle you didn’t know you had. But each time I’ve leaned into that discomfort, I’ve discovered something new about myself or the world. How about you? When has opening your mind led to a breakthrough? Join us at Entelechy to cultivate this quality and unlock your potential—because an open mind is the gateway to a fuller, richer life. #character #selfassessment #insights #characterdevelopment

Another great  #DigitalUniversitiesWeek, this year hosted at Lancaster University. First visit to this beautiful, self-contained leafy parkland campus - a peaceful setting for the week. Lots of conversation about how the sector can respond to its challenges, pick up the pace, and just a little bit of AI. Session highlight for me was Prof Raheel Nawaz PFHEA NTF's Keynote "Technology and education: Past, present and future" - a provocative reflection on higher education in the context of the digital and AI revolution. The startup competition really highlighted innovation from Coursensu, Entelechy, Novela, Semantikmatch, and Voovo. Congratulations to the winners Novela. Great to catch up with Kate Lindsay, Matt Jenner, Scott Willis, and Lisa Greenslade, and to connect in person with Thomas Vidler, Kylie Hazeldine and others. Huge thanks to Times Higher Education and Lancaster University for hosting such a valuable event - and to everyone who made time to meet with the Tomax-Think Academy team. #DigitalTransformation #HigherEd #AI #EdTech #OnlineLearning #Innovation

A great couple of days at #digital #universities week. Buckets of insight from across the sector. Key points from me: 🚀 The opening panel set the tone. #digital is a strategic imperative, one that must be fundamentally aligned to an institution's purpose to succeed. But beware; 'the pace will never be as slow as it is now', 'we need to learn to live with the #disorder in brings', and this age of #AI and #innovation genuinely challenges us to consider 'what is the role of the #university'. 🌱 It was universally recognised that the sector is already behind others. Green shoots are starting to show; #student #apps, #data #enablement and scaling #AI use cases most prominent. But the sector needs to accelerate and demonstrate more #digital decisiveness if it is to succeed. There were notably more VCs, DVCs, PVCs, and CIOs this year than previously, which shows things are moving in the right direction; #leadership, #investment, #collaboration and #acceleration is essential. 🖇️ Given the challenges facing the sector, a more collective operating model also feels like an imperative. So it was great to see the session led by Mark Thompson, together with Emma Jane Woodcock (UCISA) and Liam Earney (JISC) identify so many potential areas for sector co-creation and collaboration on #digital and #IT services. It will be great to see how that evolves, and what lessons could be learned from the Danish universities collective SRS project https://lnkd.in/e2tXzbHQ. 🛡️ The last day started with two great sessions on #cyber. In the first, Daniel Prince opening up with a 'manifesto' on the importance of cyber and the #future of #corruption in this age of advanced #disinformation; closely followed by PJ (Patrick) Hemmaway with an eye opening personal account of what it is like to live and work through a major cyber incident. 🤖 #AI ran throughout almost every session. Most often in conversation, but often interspersed with some strong examples of how AI can support learners and researchers, as well as how it can be used to enhance assessment and feedback. The #startup competition brought that to life, well done to all who presented; Coursensu, Entelechy, Novela, Semantikmatch, and Voovo. Many thanks to all the fantastic speakers and panel hosts, the Lancaster University team for hosting us, and Times Higher Education for running the event. There will be a full blog to follow, and if you'd like to read my thoughts on last year's event, focussed on #digital decisiveness https://lnkd.in/eQjTAd6C Professor Jo-Anne Murray | Margaret Korosec | Chris Awre | Chris Trace | Catherine Chambers (MBA,SFHEA) | Susannah Quinsee | Jean Pembleton | Rob Court | Kate Lindsay
