We will train up Britain's young people to seize clean energy opportunities and help them build a stronger future for them and their families. Yesterday, Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall and Energy Secretary Ed Miliband met industry leaders and trade bodies from the energy sector, to discuss the Government's ambitious plans including how our Jobcentre network can help fill roles. The clean energy transition will create new apprenticeships and jobs across the country needed to deliver clean power by 2030.

Thanks to the Triple Lock, millions of pensioners will see up to an extra £470 added to their State Pension which has been uprated by 4.1% from today. Those on working-age benefits such as Universal Credit are also set to receive an average of an extra £150 this year. This increase amounts to a cash boost of over £6.9 billion, demonstrating the government's commitment to ensuring pensioners enjoy a better retirement and support for low-income families as bills rise in April. “We believe if you can work, you should work. But if you can’t work, you should be properly supported" - Chancellor, Rachel Reeves Significant welfare reforms were announced to build the economy and get Britain working in the Spring Statement. The 3 key reforms are: 1. £1 billion will be invested to provide personalised employment, health and skills support from 2026-2027 to help people start or stay in work. 2. Universal Credit Standard Allowance will be increased for new and existing claims above inflation from 2026-2027. This means the standard allowance weekly rate for a single person aged 25 and over, will increase from £92 in 2025-2026 to £106 in 2029-2030. 3. To ensure PIP is focused on those with higher needs, a new eligibility requirement will be introduced. This will mean a minimum of four points must be scored on one PIP daily living activity to receive the daily living element of the benefit. Please be assured there will be no immediate changes to your health and disability related benefit payment. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eD29-Ndp

More than 1 million working people will see a rise in living standards thanks to improvements to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP). The changes to SSP will mean that lower-income workers no longer have to choose between their health or their jobs, which will help to deliver the Government's priority to grow the economy by boosting workers’ rights and creating a healthier, more productive workforce.
