💰 VC salaries in Africa - how low is too low? And what’s finally starting to shift? In March, Dream VC and A&A Collective released a first-of-its-kind Investment Salaries Report across African-focused VC, PE, and Impact firms. Since then, it's been picked up by TechCabal and featured in a fresh deep-dive by Techpoint Africa. 📍 👉 https://lnkd.in/ebQqTuD3 🧩 TL;DR from the article: African VC salaries are still way below global norms. 🔹 Salaries are rising – slowly, but surely. 🔹 Funds with phantom carry + upskilling = talent magnets. 🔹 AUMs are quietly growing, which will unlock better pay. ✅ Upskilling is one of the most underrated talent retention tools in African VC today - and a core part of what we help funds with at Dream VC. 📩 Want to retain and grow top talent? 💌 Hey, I’m Francis Nwalibe.. here is my open letter to you👋 I went through the Dream VC program last year and there’s a lot I wish someone told me before going in. If you’re applying this year, I’ll be your “𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞”. First, 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮. If you think you know what VC is about, think again. You’ll spend hours learning and unlearning things, while getting practical context to everything you learn. I wish someone had told me that the 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞, 🧯 and that the tutors will do everything to make sure everything makes sense. And it will. I wish I’d known about the financial modeling modules 📰 . A quick word of advice. Start studying it now so it doesn’t look strange when you finally have to. It would be nice if someone had told me that I’ll meet some of the nicest people ever at the program, and make lifelong friends with them. I’d have loved for someone to tell me that I’ll have to work in groups with other people. 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬, 𝐢𝐭’𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐨 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭, 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭’𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫. But in every case, I was going to have an incredible amount of fun. I wish someone had told me about the retreats. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐯𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲. I wish I’d known about the many assignments that come with each module, and the scramble to turn them in before 12am. I wish I’d known I’d be voted the funny bone of the cohort 😂 . I wish I’d known that I’ll have the best time ever in the program, both professionally and socially. Maybe, just maybe, I’d have applied much sooner. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐰, 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞. 𝐈𝐭’𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭’𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐭. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐦𝐩. 🔥 Cheers, Francis Nwalibe

I asked Perplexity, “What’s the best VC program for Africa?” 💻 It said: Dream VC ‼️ It made me smile ( duh, even AI knows it!) - not because we needed external validation, but because it reminded me why we do this. 💰 We often get asked, “Why is your program paid when others are free?” And here’s the truth: 𝐖𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭. 𝐖𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞 - 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐰𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐭. 𝐀𝐬 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐨𝐰𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬! 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬, 𝐬𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭? We’ve built something that goes way beyond a few Zoom calls and case studies. 💡 We have a full-time team supporting every single fellow 💬 Our mentors show up - again and again...and again! 🧰 Fellows get access to lifelong tools, networks, and real dealflow 🌍 And we bring our community together - in-person, to build trust. Yes, there’s tuition. But what that really buys you is a support system we’ve poured years into building. 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 - 𝐰𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐰𝐞’𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐚 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫. 𝐖𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞, 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐚𝐲. So if you’re weighing your options between something free and something like Dream VC, ask yourself: Are you looking for content or are you looking for community, access, and support? 😕 “I want to understand investing… but I don’t even know where to begin.” 🥹 “VC feels like a closed club - everyone already knows each other.” 😅 “I have questions, but I don’t want to sound dumb.” Heard these before? So have we. A lot. And if any of that sounds like you -welcome. You’re in exactly the right place. 📍 For years, we’ve been quietly building Ladies Circle at Dream VC - a private, no-bullshit, no-gatekeeping community just for the women in our programs. It's where real talk lives, where curiosity is celebrated, and where your ambitions are met with open arms and high-fives. 💥 And for the first time ever, we’re opening the doors. This isn’t one of those “why we need more women in VC” panels. We already know the stats. We’ve lived the barriers. This is about flipping the script. This is hands-on, interactive, and high-energy. You’re not just listening — you’re doing. 🎲 Play Investor Poker – Step into the decision-maker seat. Make bold bets. React to juicy startup drama. 💬 Unfiltered Conversations – No sugarcoating, no jargon. Just real talk about how this space actually works. 🤝 Genuine Connections – Not just another LinkedIn add. Meet women (and allies) who actually have your back. 📅 Date: Saturday, March 29th ⏰ Time: 2PM - 4PM West African Time (WAT) 🔗 Your seat is waiting: https://lnkd.in/dpHhVput If you’ve ever been curious about venture capital — whether as an investor, a founder, or just someone who wants to finally crack the code — this space is for YOU. ✨ No suits required. No fancy jargon needed. Just come as you are — curious, bold, and ready to build. We saved you a seat. 💜 Tag a friend who needs to be here too. Devika Bade Mutsa Katomeni Chisobem N.
