Calculating a company’s avoided emissions is a challenging endeavour. Cibus' Head of Impact, Georgina Thomas, tells New Private Markets’ Ben Payton, how capital is displacing high-emission alternatives: “It's a powerful way to demonstrate climate impact, not just paper reductions.” Promising new methodologies for measuring emissions are also beginning to gain ground. Spring is here! And what better way to celebrate Easter than with juicy🍓British strawberries🍓in the sunshine? While the sun has been shining our supplier, The Summer Berry Company in West Sussex, has seen their strawberries thrive, producing nearly 200 tonnes of fruit - that's about 50 tonnes more than this time last year - set to land on shelves just in time for Easter! Get ready to enjoy an estimated 500,000 punnets of strawberries hitting Tesco stores in East and West Sussex and surrounding counties. #BritishGrown #Tesco

We are extremely proud to have been named a winner at the Agri Investor Awards 2024 in the ‘Equity Fundraising of the Year: Europe’ category for our Cibus Fund II close last year. A big thank you to both our original supporters, as well as those who looked to Cibus for the first time; both have been instrumental in directing capital to those companies contributing to carbon reduction, increasing biodiversity and making compelling financial returns. Exits are located just around the corner in 2025, say Cibus Capital and other leading impact investors. In a recent New Private Markets article, Senior Editor, Toby Mitchenall, asked the winners of New Private Markets’ Global Awards – in which we were proud to be recognised as Impact Firm of the Year (Food System) – about the prospect for exits in 2025. Our CIO and Founder, Rob Appleby, believes that a wider group of long-term investors are increasingly acknowledging the opportunities that the food transition offers. There are signs of life in food and agriculture M&A, with investment bankers predicting a notable increase in activity over the next 12 to 18 months. Last month, Cibus celebrated the merger between our portfolio company ISO Horti, a leader in horticultural robotics and automation, and TTA, who are specialists in robotic transplanting and sorting solutions. 📰Read the full NPM article here: https://lnkd.in/g6iDv25P #Cibus #NewPrivateMarkets #Sustainability #SustainableAgriculture #NaturalCapital

We are thrilled to announce that Cibus Foundation has made a donation to The Country Trust, an incredible organisation dedicated to connecting disadvantaged children in the UK with the wonders of farming and nature. This generous donation will enable 15 farm discovery visits, providing these young people with hands-on experiences and a deeper understanding of the food they eat and the countryside that sustains them. It is through such experiences that children can develop vital skills, create lasting memories, and foster a stronger connection to the environment. We believe that early education about farming and nature—topics often not covered in schools—plays a crucial role in nurturing healthier bodies, minds and ultimately a healthier planet. We’re especially excited that one of these visits will be with The Summer Berry Company, one of the portfolio companies at Cibus Funds. It’s an amazing opportunity to showcase sustainable farming practices in action and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards. #CibusFoundation #CountryTrust #Sustainability #DisadvantagedChildren #FarmDiscovery #SocialImpact #CommunitySupport

Last month, Cibus celebrated the the completed merger between two pioneering businesses – our portfolio company, ISO Horti, a leader in horticultural robotics and automation, and TTA, specialists in robotic transplanting and sorting solutions. Together TTA-ISO Bleskensgraaf provides advanced AI and robotics solutions to growers across Europe, the Americas, Middle East and Oceania to directly address the surge in demand for AI and robotics in horticulture and food production. We made our first investment in ISO in 2021. Since then, Cibus Capital has helped the company expand its R&D, grow sales end enhance its installation and maintenance capabilities. We retain a majority stake in TTA-ISO and look forward to continuing our partnership with the team through this growth phase. Many congratulations, TTA-ISO! Last week, our founder and CIO Rob Appleby took to the stage at Private Capital Europe Summit 2025, hosted by Private Equity Wire, to address a packed room of investors, managers and other industry stakeholders on the transformative power of private markets. In conversation with Aftab Bose about trends in the world of sustainable food production and investment, Rob discussed how Cibus worked with Innoliva, one of Europe's largest olive oil producers, to help integrate value-creation initiatives and sustainability and resource efficiency practices. Cibus sold Innoliva to Fiera Comox in November 2023. Thank you to Ed Telling Photography for the photos! #PEWPrivateCapital #SustainableFood #SustainableInvesting #FutureOfFood

Is food security the overlooked piece of the UK's productivity puzzle? Rob Appleby, Cibus' Founder and Chief Investment Officer, puts forward the case for a joined-up investment approach to UK agriculture in his new piece for Financial Times' Sustainable Views. In the article, Rob draws on the lessons the UK could learn from the Dutch farming system, including the view that agricultural infrastructure works hand in hand with other national infrastructure. The UK has its own strengths, and is well-placed to develop its own model of productive agriculture, incorporating sustainable practices from the ground up.
