Cometh the Hour, Cometh the Women We are living in interesting times. It feels as though we are at a crossroads. There is a global roll back of women’s rights, and a pushback against diversity, equality and inclusion. All at a time when we need it most. With war, poverty, climate crises, the advent of a new era with AI, epidemics of violence against women and girls - THIS is the time to harness the power of diversity. We know that equal representation (gender balance), more women in leadership and diverse leadership more broadly leads to better decision-making and better outcomes for all. We know that nations with more women in leadership are more likely to ratify climate treaties and less likely to go to war or commit human rights abuses. We know that increasing women’s representation makes for safer, healthier, more prosperous and less corrupt nations. So, what are we waiting for? Join the 50:50 Parliament to support us to flood the system with diverse, talented women and, with partners, fix the system that holds women back. Join here: https://lnkd.in/eRYZZsRa NOW is the moment. We can do it, but we can’t do it without YOU. Thank you to #ChamberUK and also Bayer and Bicycle Therapeutics for backing us. #5050parliament #womeninleadership #letsdothis #pivotalventures #supportwomen #democracy #equalrepresentation #lever4change #womeninpolitics

📉 Trump’s Tariffs: ‘Liberation Day’ or a Dangerous Economic Gamble? President Donald Trump has this evening declared a bold new era of “economic independence” with sweeping tariffs targeting the UK, the EU, and global trade partners. Dubbed “Liberation Day,” the announcement included: 🔹 10% tariffs on UK imports 🔹 20% on goods from the European Union 🔹 25% on all foreign-made vehicles Trump’s justification? “They charge us, we charge them,” he said, citing long-standing trade imbalances and protectionist measures from allies and competitors alike. The announcement was met with cheers from a handpicked crowd at the White House, but global markets and policymakers are bracing for potential fallout. The UK and EU - longtime allies - have been thrust into the economic crosshairs. Economists warn of serious consequences. A global tariff war could shrink the world economy by up to 5.5%, with countries like the UK and Canada potentially losing over 10% of GDP due to their reliance on industrial imports. While American farmers and auto workers cheered promises of revived manufacturing, international leaders are considering their response. A new era of retaliatory tariffs and heightened trade tensions could be on the horizon. Was this “Liberation Day” a genuine strategic shift or political theatre? Either way, the global economic landscape just changed. What are your thoughts? Is this a bold step towards fairer trade, or the start of a costly global standoff? #TradePolicy #Tariffs #GlobalEconomy #Trump #UKTrade #EUTariffs #LiberationDay #Economics #Politics #Manufacturing
