Kicking off the year with inspiration at the Oxford Real Farming Conference! This Friday, our co-founder Sara Grady will join experts Rosie Bristow, Jen Hunter and Claire O'Sullivan for a compelling discussion on the role of leather, wool, and flax in regenerative British landscapes. Chaired by Elizabeth Keach, who emphasizes: “The science is clear that fashion must shift its sourcing to materials originating in the biosphere that are produced in ecologically restorative ways.” By sharing their transformative journeys, this panel will shed light on the challenges, potential, and deeper meaning of British fashion’s transformation. Join us for an exciting conversation! #ORFC #RegenerativeFashion #PastureforLife #HomeGrown Image: Pasture for Life, Department Two

We have always wanted British Pasture Leather to be accessible to makers and artisans, as well as brands and studios. We are delighted to announce that a limited volume of our signature black tumbled leather is now available to purchase online, with NO minimum order. This style can be seen in the recent Billy Tannery and Navygrey collections -- a supple and versatile black leather that is suited to accessories, footwear, and furniture. We produce our leather entirely in the UK, using the hides of cattle certified by Pasture for Life and a traditional vegetable tanning process. British Pasture Leather reposted this
There's a lot of talk in the fashion industry about reconnecting with nature, transparent field to finished product supply chains, supporting biodiversity etc. British Pasture Leather walk the talk, building UK based regenerative leather supply chains. If you work in fashion, accessories, home, or even if you don't, I can highly recommend attending one of their field days to learn about their work, and just to have a really enriching day in nature with good food and good people.

So what do we mean by “regenerative”? What is “the power of pasture”? How can leather play a role in ecosystem restoration – and why is it so difficult to have locally made leather? We are hosting a Field Day for design professionals to answer these questions and change the way leather is understood — by putting it in the context of positive local food and farming systems. The daylong programme is a complete journey of what lies behind British Pasture Leather. The morning includes talks and tours on one of the UK's leading regenerative farms certified by Pasture for Life, joined by expert speakers Nikki Yoxall and Claire Whittle and after a delicious lunch of local food we see the process of leather being made at one of the few remaining leather "curriers" in the UK. Previous attendees have said: "The knowledge that is gained in this one day is equivalent to weeks of learning via meetings/courses, along with the enriching experience of being on the farms with the experts!" "A fun and refreshing and energising break from the heavy lifting of office work in sustainability! A chance to bring authenticity, experience and insight to your corporate change-making efforts." This year, there are two chances to join this one-day programme: Thursday 3 October, or Friday 4 October Tickets can be purchased by following the link below - space is limited, so we encourage you to book early. If your company is interested in a bespoke group programme on another day, please contact us.

FashionUnited covered our collaboration with fellow pioneers Billy Tannery on the "Fauna" handbag, the first commercial product to feature British Pasture Leather. Designed by co-founder Alice Robinson, it unites our cattle leather with Billy Tannery's deer suede -- showcasing "fine leather from British farms."

We put leather on the stage at the Groundswell agricultural festival -- "the most informative event of the year for the fashion industry in the UK" according to co-founder Alice Robinson. International Leather Maker trade magazine covered our participation, which included a collaborative stand with Pasture for Life, celebrating the whole journey of pasture raised cattle including informative displays, dynamic interactive sessions, and leather goods made by British Pasture Leather with hides of 100% pasture-fed cattle. Julie's Restaurant was adjacent, serving baps with grilled beef from Cotswold Beef, a Pasture for Life certified farm whose hides have been used in our leather supply. We participated in panels on "Regional Leather in the UK and Europe" with Nina Conrad of Regionales Leder, and a discussion on restoring value to hides and skins, chaired by the Sustainable Food Trust with Mike Redwood, Alice V Robinson, James Allen, John Mettrick, and Lesley Mitchell. Co-founder Sara Grady is quoted in the ILM piece: "It's thrilling to be part of the growing movement for regenerative agriculture in the UK that Groundswell represents. Leather has a place in these discussions because it represents the many positive benefits that pasture-fed cattle can bring to ecosystems and food systems. British leather production has been withering in the face of globalization, but it deserves to be renewed, with close links to the local farmers, artisans and designers." Join us for more at Groundswell 2025!
