The Superbowl once again saw the worlds biggest brands spend big on creative and media, with the ad breaks showcasing a who’s who of celebrity culture. Our US team took a look at which ads managed to convert airtime into social buzz post the major sporting event. 🏃♂️ Nike’s Heavy Hitters After 27 years away, Nike’s Superbowl ad, stacked with heavy hitters from the world of women’s sport and narrated by Grammy winner Doechii was head and shoulders above the rest when it came to social engagement (1.7M). It’s also the campaign which has managed to maintain conversation beyond Sunday nightand into the week. It’s not gone unnoticed by the industry either, picking up the Super Clio at The Clios this week. 🔺 Doritos Super Sentiment. This fan made ad bucked the trend of star-studded ads and garnered Doritos one of the highest percentages of positive sentiment (47%) on the night. Who needs Hollywood A-Listers? 🍻 Battle of the Beers In the battle of beers, Budweiser outperformed Stella Artois with almost twice the social engagement. Even the Beckham factor wasn’t enough to beat out the emotive storytelling of Budweiser’s ‘First Delivery’. Budweiser also came out on top when it came to USA Today’s ‘Ad Meter’ which ranked the nations favourite ads from the night. These 3 winners go to show that simply signing the biggest names in Hollywood isn’t enough to cut through when you’re one of 50 brands swinging big. Creativity always wins, and we love to see it.
