  • Learning moment for the OT community! 🧠 Gaynor one of our OTs has just completed a sensory profile that really underscores the impact of environment on sensory processing. This client presents with opposite responses to auditory and vestibular input depending on whether they are at home or school. It's a powerful reminder of the context-dependent nature of sensory experiences. This leads me to ask: What strategies or assessment approaches do you find most effective in uncovering these environment-specific sensory processing patterns? And how does this deeper understanding inform your collaborative work with parents and educators, ultimately influencing your recommendations for sensory support? Let's learn from each other! Share your wisdom in the comments. 👇 #SensoryProcessingAwareness #OTDiscussion #AssessmentStrategies #EnvironmentalFactors #ModalitySpecificResponses #CollaborativeCare #OTEducation #ParentTeacherCollaboration #SensorySupportStrategies

  • One of our Occupational Therapists, Gaynor, believes in understanding each individual's unique needs to foster greater independence. Recently, she worked closely with a gentleman to address his toileting skills. This involved a comprehensive assessment that went beyond just physical abilities, considering factors like his routine, environment, any cognitive or sensory challenges, and his personal goals related to toileting. Following the assessment, Gaynor developed a personalised teaching plan. This included breaking down the toileting process into smaller, manageable steps, providing clear verbal or visual cues, and exploring adaptive equipment to make toileting easier and safer for him. Crucially, Gaynor focused on practical practice. This also involved a guided practice session in a comfortable and supportive environment, working on skills like transfers, clothing management, hygiene, and understanding his body's signals. The emphasis was on building his confidence and competence through repetition and positive reinforcement. Gaynor's approach is about empowerment. By thoroughly assessing, thoughtfully teaching, and providing ample opportunities for practice, she aimed to equip this gentleman with the skills and strategies needed to maintain greater independence and dignity in this essential aspect of daily life.

  • Shoutout to our OT, Gaynor! 🙌 Today Gaynor our OT played a vital role in supporting the National Neurological Services - National Care Group, in assisting with client reviews, updating important reports, and providing essential staff guidance. Her OT skills help ensure the individuals can live more independently and fulfilling lives. The clients receive tailored support, care teams are empowered with valuable insights, and NCG maintains robust, person-centered practices. We're so proud of the positive impact she makes every day! ❤️ #OccupationalTherapy #OT #NationalCareGroup #CareSupport #MakingADifference

  • Thrilled to share a heartwarming success story from our OT, Gaynor, today! 🎉 After many months of struggling with community presence and a reluctance to go outside, one of the young men she supports took a massive step forward. Gaynor's patience, dedication, and gentle encouragement worked wonders! 💖 Today, with the help of his gutter rollator, he bravely ventured out and walked a significant distance to the local shop. This might seem like a small trip to some, but for him, it was a huge achievement! 🚶♂️✨ Gaynor's ability to build trust and empower individuals is truly inspiring. It's moments like these that remind us of the power of occupational therapy and the difference it makes in people's lives. Huge congratulations to both Gaynor and the young man for this incredible milestone! 👏 #OccupationalTherapy #CommunityPresence #SuccessStory #Inspiration #OT #MakingADifference
