In this week’s #AdMatters... It’s been an eventful week in the world of advertising, from the big global developments around tariffs, to Advertising Week Europe descending for three days at 180 Strand. We were excited to have the opportunity of recognising the achievements of Matt Scheckner with a Leadership Icon award, as our colleagues in the UK Advertising Export Group prepare to launch the search for this year’s recipient at Advertising Week New York in October. Huge congrats to the AWE team, led by Katie Ingram, for another successful event. Our Ad in the A is the symbolic campaign ‘The Edible Soap’, created by Saatchi & Saatchi and UK charity The Hygiene Bank to highlight hygiene poverty in the UK. And finally... It has been a brilliant start to Advertising Week Europe, where we heard from its founder & chairman Matt Scheckner and our CEO Stephen Woodford about the importance of UK creativity on the world stage.
The UK Advertising Export Group (UKAEG) members gathered at the opening of Advertising Week to celebrate the return of the Leadership Icon Award for 2025! And who better to mark the moment than Matt Scheckner, Founder & Chairman of Advertising Week and the very first winner of the award? Matt has been instrumental in strengthening ties between the UK and US advertising industries, creating a global platform for collaboration. With Advertising Week Europe opening its doors tomorrow, it’s important to recognise Europe’s significant role in UK advertising exports. The Advertising Association’s 2023 Export Report, produced by Credos - Advertising's think tank, and the UK Advertising Exports Group (UKAEG), reveals that the European market accounted for 64% of total UK advertising exports, reaching £9.6 billion.
