
Record and transcribe a call on iPhone
In some countries and regions, you can record an audio-only phone call. If someone starts call recording, both participants receive an audio notice that the call is being recorded. The audio notice replays periodically during the call. You can’t prevent someone from turning on call recording, but you can stop it by ending the call.
Call recording is available only in select regions and languages. However, only the person initiating the call needs to have the feature available.
IMPORTANT: There may be third-party apps (apps created by companies other than Apple) that allow someone to record your phone call, and they may not provide a warning.

Record a call
Before you begin, make sure the other call participant is willing and gives explicit consent to be recorded.
Go to the Phone app
on your iPhone.
Make a call.
During the call, tap
.
Both call participants hear an audio notice that the call is being recorded.
To stop recording, tap
or just hang up.
Call recordings are automatically saved to a Call Recordings folder in the Notes app.
Access a call recording or transcript
Call recordings that you initiated are automatically saved to a Call Recordings folder in the Notes app. In select regions and languages, you can also view the transcript of a recorded call. The transcript may not be available immediately; you may see a message that the transcription is in progress.
Note: Verify the accuracy of a transcription before relying on it. It might not be a perfect representation of the conversation.
Go to the Notes app
on your iPhone.
Select a note in the Call Recordings folder, then do one of the following:
Play the recording: Tap
.
View the transcript: Tap Transcript.
Save or delete the audio recording and transcript: Tap
, then choose an option.
Stop a call recording
If don’t want the call to be recorded, do one of the following:
The person who initiated the recording can stop by tapping
. A message plays, indicating that the call recording has ended.
Either participant can end the call by tapping
.
Note: Anything that was recorded is automatically saved in the Notes app of the person who initiated the recording.
Turn off Call Recording on your iPhone
Call Recording is available by default, but you can remove it as an option. This prevents you from recording calls, but it doesn’t prevent someone else from recording a call with you.
Go to Settings
> Apps > Phone.
Tap Call Recording, then turn off Call Recording.
