Communication and collaboration services and apps
iMessage: iMessage is a messaging service for iPhone and iPad devices, Mac computers, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro that allows one-to-one or group chats, with messages that can include attachments such as photos, contacts, and locations. Messages appear on all these devices where a user is signed in. iMessage uses Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and end-to-end encryption with keys known only to the sender and receiver. Apple can’t decrypt messages, and messages aren’t logged. Using the cellular connection on an iPhone or iPad with cellular service, normal carrier data rates may apply. Messages may be sent as SMS when iMessage is unavailable; carrier messaging fees apply.
FaceTime: FaceTime is the Apple video and audio calling service. FaceTime calls use the APNs to establish a connection and then uses two protocols—the Internet Connectivity Establishment protocol and the Session Initiation Protocol—to create an encrypted stream. Users can communicate between any mix of supported Apple devices using FaceTime.
Collaboration apps: The following apps can be used to collaborate with other Managed Apple Accounts (and in some cases, personal Apple Accounts): Keynote, Numbers, Pages, Reminders, and Notes.
The following collaboration and communication services may be available based on specific criteria.

---|---|

FaceTime | Turned off by default. |
Collaboration on documents using Keynote, Numbers, Pages, Reminders, and Notes | Collaboration within the organization turned on by default. |
To modify communication and collaboration rules or turn off document sharing, see Customize user access to certain apps and services.
