Organize places with custom guides in Maps on Mac

You can organize places into your own guides for easy reference. You can find your guides in your library, and share your guides with others.

See your Favorites guide

A guide called Favorites always appears in your guides. This makes it easier for you to save places to a guide.

Tip: You can pin places that you want to see in your library when you open Maps. See Mark a location with a pin.

Go to the Maps app on your Mac.
Click in the toolbar, then choose Create New Guide.
Click in the top-right corner, then click Library.
Click Guides, then click New Guide.
Click Add a Place, select a recent place or search for one to add to your guide, then click Done.
Click Edit in the bottom left, then do any of the following:
- Rename the guide: Select the name “New Guide,” then type a new name.
- Add a cover image: Click , then choose an image from your photo library.

Go to the Maps app on your Mac.
Click a location on a map.
In the place card, click , choose Add to a Guide, then choose one of your guides.
You can also click in the toolbar, choose Add New Place To, choose a guide, then search for a location to add.

While browsing a published guide, you can add a location to a guide you created. Click next to the location, then choose a guide.

Go to the Maps app on your Mac.
Click in the top-right corner, then click Library.
Click Guides, then click a guide.
Do any of the following:
- Remove a place: Control-click the place, then choose Delete.
- Rearrange the list: Click the “Sort by” pop-up menu in the top right of the list, then choose Name, Distance, or Date Added.
- Rename the guide: Click Edit in the bottom left, select the current name, then enter a new one.
- Change the guide cover photo: Click Edit in the bottom left, click , choose a photo, click Move and Scale to crop or enlarge it, then click Use.
