TechCrunch’s Isabelle Johannessen highlighted how global media exposure and competitions like Startup Battlefield can be game-changers. A standout moment? Our Founder-to-Founder discussion with Slovak entrepreneurs who’ve built successful startups in the US: 💡 Jakub Jurových (Deepnote) 💡 Daniel Svonava (Superlinked) 💡 Andrej Danko (ServiceNow) 💡 Andrej Kiska (Credo Ventures) We ended the day pitching TrollWall AI at the Slovak Tech Conference connecting with investors and industry leaders, thanks to the main organizer Slovak PRO and the co-organizers of LUMUS Investment Collective & Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency. 🔹 Day 4: UC Berkeley & Venture Capital Insights At University of California, Berkeley, we dove into Silicon Valley vs. Europe startup strategies with Berkeley SkyDeck’s George Panagiotakopoulos and tookaway his incredible advice: "Don't be a vitamin, be a painkiller". We explored Berkeley’s innovation ecosystem with Susan Giesecke and had a deep dive into VC dynamics with Alexander Niehenke (Scale Venture Partners), discussing how European startups can better attract US investors. We also had a productive discussion with Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency Vladimir Lackovic and Nikola Kmecova about the possibilities of support for Slovak technology companies in the US. 🔹 Day 5: Maximizing Global Expansion 🌍 We kicked off with Peter Gajdoš (Fifth Wall, $3.2B AUM), who shared strategic advice on when and how Slovak startups should establish a presence in Silicon Valley. A panel with Hilary Shirazi (Notion) and Peter Gajdoš explored how angel investing is evolving and when startups should seek angel funding. Katka Sabo then led a hands-on workshop on post-program strategies: how to leverage connections, follow up effectively, and scale globally. At Plug and Play Tech Center, we learned about the immense opportunities within this accelerator and how startups can leverage its ecosystem for global growth. A huge thanks to Elina Gorji and Janis Skriveris for their valuable insights. Next stop: Google! A visit to the iconic Mountain View campus was an absolute highlight, where Joe Ernst, Senior Quantitative UX Researcher, shared actionable insights on user-centric product development, innovation, and OKRs. As a company that strives to serve our users better through our AI-powered solutions, these insights are crucial in shaping our product roadmap. A visit to Stanford University gave us a glimpse into the academic excellence that fuels Silicon Valley’s entrepreneurial spirit, thanks to a tour led by Viktor Imrišek. And what better way to end the day than at Buck’s restaurant—the legendary birthplace of some of Silicon Valley’s biggest tech deals! Over dinner with honorary consuls of #Slovakia and the #CzechRepublic, Barbara Pivnicka & Richard Pivnicka, we immersed ourselves in conversations about the #startupecosystem, #venturecapital, and the road ahead for European tech startups in the US. Our CEO Tomáš Halász and CTO Filip Strycko have been gaining first-hand insights into the global innovation ecosystem. Day 1: #SanFrancisco We kicked start the day by exploring the best practices of expanding into the US market with Pui San Tam from EIT Hub Silicon Valley. Understanding the Silicon Valley mindset is key to navigating this competitive landscape, and we are eager to apply these insights to our growth strategy. Diving deeper into the funding landscape, Vicki Maler from Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth (CSP) North America highlighted the differences between impact investing in the US and Europe—an invaluable discussion for any startup looking to make a difference while securing strategic investments. AI Trust & Safety is a crucial topic for us at TrollWall AI, and we had the privilege of discussing it with Henriette Cramer, Co-Founder of PaperMoon AI and former Director of Algorithmic Impact & Responsibility at Spotify. Ethical AI development is at the core of our mission, and this conversation reinforced our commitment to building AI solutions that are both secure and responsible. A visit to Salesforce provided further inspiration, thanks to insights from Izabela Petrovicova, Director, Solution Consulting. Learning how startups can effectively collaborate with large corporations is key to scaling innovation, and we are excited about the opportunities ahead. We wrapped up the day with an insightful discussion with Kris V. of Ferocity Capital during a ferry trip to Alameda, where we explored investment strategies for deep-tech startups—a perfect end to a knowledge-packed day!
