Remembering Dr Tara Fernandez 🤍 It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the sudden passing of our dear friend, Tara F. As a writer and editor, Tara was an exceptional science communicator—her ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives was truly remarkable. Beyond her talent for words, Tara was a professional in every sense—dedicated, insightful and always striving for excellence. Her work set a high standard, not just in quality but in clarity and impact. She was not only a skilled communicator but also a generous mentor, always eager to share her knowledge and help others grow. More than anything, Tara was a wonderful person to work with—clever, kind and always willing to lend a hand. Her presence brought warmth and encouragement to those around her. Her loss is deeply felt by all who have had the privilege of working alongside her. We will miss her profoundly. Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time. #ICYMI: The Skin Research Institute of Singapore (SRIS) celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this year! 🎉 Established in 2013 as a virtual research institute dedicated to championing better skin health in Asia, SRIS later became a full-fledged physical institute focused on multidisciplinary skin research led by clinicians, researchers and engineers at the A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research, the National Healthcare Group and Nanyang Technological University Singapore—the institutions that jointly founded SRIS. Wildtype Media Group had the honour of creating SRIS’ commemorative publication, which featured the institute’s milestones through the years. This includes the launch of various innovations in dermatology and skin sciences, such as next-generation scar care at RNAscence Biotechnology www.bioRNA.sg and microbiome-focused interventions by ArrowBiome. Since 2020, our team has worked closely with SRIS to drive their science communication efforts on LinkedIn, where we’ve built a community of more than 4,000 followers. Meet Police Pal Ray! 🦁 The brave lion cub joined forces with members of the Singapore Police Force (SPF) to help find a lost child in 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙤𝙮 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙚𝙨, the first book in SPF’s Police Pal storybook series. 💡 Designed and written by Wildtype Media Group, the interactive book helps young children understand how SPF contributes to maintaining safety and security in Singapore. The Police Pal storybook series was officially launched during the inaugural Police Pal carnival held last 24 June, where Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Social and Family Development, Ms Sun Xueling conducted a reading session for preschoolers. Copies of the book are set to be distributed to preschools and public libraries across the country. Together with the National Library Board (NLB), SPF will also be hosting storytelling sessions where children can engage with SPF officers and receive free Police Pal activity booklets.
