This week we held our annual shareholders meeting in Gothenburg, Sweden. This year’s edition was a special one, because it was the first for Håkan Samuelsson as CEO since we listed the company.    During the meeting, Håkan laid out his initial thoughts about the path forward for Volvo Cars during this important period for the company. Welcome Back, Håkan Samuelsson   Today marks the return of Håkan Samuelsson as CEO of Volvo Cars.    Håkan previously led our company from 2012 to 2022. His leadership was instrumental in our transformation and growth during that period, and putting us on our path towards electrification. His experience and vision will be meaningful as we navigate the evolving automotive landscape.    Here's to a safe and sustainable future! 

Today, we express our deepest gratitude to Jim Rowan as he steps down as CEO of Volvo Cars.   Since joining us in 2022, Jim has led Volvo Cars through an exciting period of transformation, driving our electrification strategy forward, advancing our technology ambitions, and reinforcing our commitment to sustainability.    Under his leadership, we have taken significant strides toward our vision of becoming a fully electric car company. Jim’s dedication, energy, and forward-thinking leadership have been invaluable in shaping the future of Volvo Cars.    As he moves on to new opportunities, we thank him for his contributions and wish him all the best in his next chapter.   Thank you, Jim, for everything you have done for Volvo Cars and our people.

We’ve had a packed few days last week at the NVIDIA GTC as we joined thousands of innovators, researchers, and leaders to explore the future of accelerated computing and AI. In their Tech Talk, our experts Alwin Bakkenes and Erik Coelingh explained how we use AI and virtual worlds with the aim to create safer cars. We’ve also offered test drives of the fully electric EX90, Volvo Cars’ first software-defined vehicle built on NVIDIA DRIVE AGXTM platform allowing the car to get better over time through over-the-air updates. We’re proud to announce that the Volvo EX90 has been selected as a ‘Top Three in the World’ finalist in the World Luxury Car category of the World Car Awards. This international accolade from 96 journalists representing 30 countries recognises our distinct Scandinavian design language as well as the talent, creativity, and passion of our global design team. Volvo Cars uses AI and virtual worlds to create safer cars.   One of the more advanced methods that we use is a technique called ‘Gaussian splatting’. It turns real world visuals into lifelike, natural-looking 3D scenes and subjects, at a scale not seen before.    With Gaussian splatting, incident data collected by the advanced sensors in our new cars – such as emergency braking, sharp steering or manual intervention – can now be synthesised, reconstructed and explored to help us better understand how accidents could be avoided in the future.      #AI #Innovation #Software
