🌍 A Holistic Approach to Net-Zero: Financing All Climate Action 🌱 The new Science Based Targets initiative Corporate Net-Zero Standard v2.0 is a step towards aligning corporate action with the latest climate science. The effort to ensure accountability, transparency, and impact in carbon markets is commendable—kudos to the SBTi team for their dedication to making science actionable for businesses. However, as we refine guidance, it’s crucial to ensure an inclusive approach that recognizes the full spectrum of climate solutions. While prioritizing high-integrity removals is essential, we must also acknowledge the role of prevention and protection in avoiding emissions from being released in the first place. The reality is that we need both—a strategic combination of value chain decarbonization, removals, and nature protection. Corporate climate finance should be directed toward all solutions that slow and mitigate climate change, especially as we navigate technological limitations, regional disparities, and economic pressures. Let’s work toward a framework that mobilizes investment into a broad range of effective climate actions—from removals to conservation—ensuring a balanced, science-driven, and practical pathway to net zero.
