Jean-Philippe Patesson, Executive Director of Projects at Trojena, shares how sustainability is at the core of our ski operations. Over the last five winters, our team has been rigorously testing snowmaking technologies and perfecting the design of our ski slopes, all to ensure an incredible skiing experience while preserving the natural beauty of the mountains. Our slopes are strategically designed to reduce solar exposure, while heat recovery systems will warm the Ski Village and Slope Residences in winter and be repurposed in summer. Snow in Saudi Arabia? John Pippett, Development Director at Trojena, explains that due to the high elevation of Trojena’s Ski Village at 2,200 meters above sea level, many don’t realize how cold it gets here in the mountains of NEOM. During winter, temperatures consistently drop below freezing, allowing Trojena to produce snow, which is being done on Trojena’s very own ski test slope – 400 meters long and 35 meters wide. Trojena will offer over 30 km of skiing, with 28 km covered in snow from December to March.
