Westpac Economist Justin Smirk in his latest findings reveal a promising outlook for PNG, with robust GDP growth of 4.3% in 2024, supported by strong commodities prices and export earnings. Even amidst challenges such as foreign exchange shortages and security issues, PNG is demonstrating resilience and growth potential. The upcoming 2028 entry of the Hunters NRL team into Australia’s competition is a game-changer, not just for sports fans, but for the country’s economy.
